@GermanSausagesAreTheWurst Cicadas ARE tasty! Get them right when they do their final molt as they emerge and they're very soft, cooked the texture is crispy outside and creamy inside, like soft chocolate. They taste like crayfish with a nice nuttiness, like if you had shrimp with a cashew sauce or something. They're really good.

@TheGuyCalledX Thank you, I'm glad someone spoke up. Not all grasshoppers are locusts, but all locusts are grasshoppers.
2
1600s? So, you're Spanish...?
2
KITTIES!

@resentfuldragon Everybody relax, a white man is here to explain that brown women are in fact not oppressed. Clearly, you know far more than they do about their own experiences.

Ten kids?! Jfc...

I've been itching to bake bread lately. I wanna try this! Edit: I wonder if the "boiling" was glazing. Like a honey glazed bread.
1
4:30 Really? They must not have boiled it down, like, at all.
1
Your roommate is a conkwocket.
1
It's not him, you conkwocket, it's youtube.
1
😂 I don't get that. So if a king ate a deer heart, would he start standing around staring blankly and run headlong into carriages?
1
DUCK?! *clicks off*
1
Yuuuuup.
1
@MarioMastar I just love the mental image of a bunch of dudes standing around an altar with this cake on it, hungry, when one of them goes "....Hey, so the gods never actually eat the cake, so they're really just in it for the smell, right? So we can just...have it?" And all the other dudes go "Yeah, the smell! Totally! Grab a plate, let's do this."
1
(sees title) I'm sorry, what? You know, British food gets a bad rap. The food itself isn't bad, but they really need to pick better names.
1
Asia, Africa, and South America uses blood a lot, too. It's only the squeamish new world westerners in the US and Canada who think it's gross. They have no taste, no brains, and no culture.
1
@RogCBrand This goes beyond just "being hungry". You have never experienced true starvation. When you're starving, even raw blood would taste delicious. Inedible things suddenly make your mouth water. Biology is a powerful thing, we're not as far removed from our animal instincts as we like to think we are.
1
Surprised he didn't use Solosis. It's literally the placenta pokemon.
1
Where did you get that Alcremie plush? It's so detailed!
1
So in other words, men were allowed to spend as much as they want, but women couldn't. Of course.
1
That's a Charizard.
1
I wish horse wasn't illegal. It's so dumb, why are cows ok but not horses? Horse is DELICIOUS!
1
I love you Max, but please get a splatter guard!
1
I love the thought of sassy Mexican women risking their lives to take their chili back from the Americans. That's so great
1
I have a very weak stomach. I shouldn't have watched this while eating breakfast 🤢
1
21:15 Astringent?
1
Omg I've always wanted to know what the "famous Pompeii bread" tasted like! I saw a historian who was a classic trained pastry chef make a Roman meal using tools they had, she made bread using spelt flour and wild yeast she actually grew herself, and baked it on a hearth. It was so cool.
1
That's gotta be the chewiest, most difficult to eat jerky ever.
1
It's amazing Irene was found at all, what she did was pretty damn stupid.
1
Hi Max! Can you please show us more of Jaime and Cersei?
1
I don't get it. Why.not just add the flour to the yolk mixture? It makes no sense to me to add it AFTER the egg whites.
1
10:20 WTF
1
That's messed up.
1
Oof, I can't stand tongue. Too chewy.
1
SCHLAGOBERS
1
Lol the use of papyrus font was a vibe
1
How do they know it was the semlor? It sounds like a burst appendix or ruptured organ of some kind.
1
I love mock apple pie! I make mine from ritz crackers. It's surprisingly good.
1
No wonder the Spartans were big, hulking, smooth-brained barbarians. Their mothers drank heavily during pregnancy, they were fed more booze upon birth, suffered neonatal abuse and neglect, encouraged to avoid learning, deliberately starved (I doubt they ate enough to nourish a child's growing brain), and forced to bash themselves against one another from age 7. It's astounding these people survived past the first generation. These boys probably developed CTE at the ripe old age of 20.
1
Hi Max, I have the gene that makes cilantro taste terrible. Do you have any idea what I can use instead? My gut says fennel, marjoram, or even epazote, but I'd like your opinion.
1
Yeah, pretty much.
1
1:30 GOSLING? Those monsters!
1
Lol I was gonna say, Betty Crocker never existed. I bet you loved making this one!
1
9:20 Not an oversight. My switchel never had ginger, but it does include lemons.
1
My fiance doesn't like French onion soup dripping in all that greasy cheese, so this sounds perfect! I may make a roux to thicken it and make sure the milk doesn't split.
1
15:25 Of course you bust out into the Barbara Streisand version. I love you, Max 😂
1
Why six peppercorns? Did she make it with 7 and thought it was too spicy?
1
18:39 "Meh... Meh!!" 😂 This is why we love you, Max.
1
Oh man, these things were heaven in grade school. I even have those little tins from old Tavala meals, too. I know what I'm making tonight!
1
@Kanudelgruber Ooo I hadn't thought of that. Thanks, I was certain I'd have to spend an exorbitant amount having it shipped here.
