The list includes the republics (The government leader is usually the president) and monarchies (The government leader is usually the prime minister). Democracy is the system of government where the leaders are elected and accountable by the people. Political freedom refers to the rights and entitlements of citizens to express their views and participate in the political process without restriction or fear of retribution.

Martial law was lifted in 1987 after the external threats subsided which lead to open up democracy. Taiwan is now a model country maintaining Asia's no1 in freedom and democracy among the citizens.

  16.  @tony1duan  The US has official relations with all countries which do no mean support. In case of war, the military alliance is according to the rule of law particularly the defense treaties between the democratic countries. Note: The alliance is always defensive against aggressors.

  26.  @gameli9932  Like the rest of countries, the US has official relations with SA. Let's say good relations because US and SA usually agree in peace deals on the Midde east regions. US and China has also good relation since opening ties in 1979 which bring China from poor giant into now superpower status. But the recent bullying behavior of the government against small and weak neighbors has broken the rule of peace and harmony. The Chinese military enforcing the will of other countries sovereignty is violation of international law. The US and the world to create an alliance is just a response to deter the escalation back to normalcy.

  33.  @AhabPiquard  China is the name of the country founded by Dr.Sun, the first president of ROC. government. At the time of founding in 1912, Taiwan was already Japanese territory since 1895. When PRC was proclaimed as government of China in 1949, Taiwan was still a Japanese territory until the peace treaty in 1952. One thing is clear, there is ZERO reason and grossly illegal for PRC government to claim Taiwan.

RoC did not give PRC inheritance but stole the lands. Until now the ROC has the historical right to claim back and rule their stolen territory again at least in paper.
