  1. Finland just wanted their lost land back from the 1938 winter war with Russia. Finland got off lucky at the end of the war and was not taken completely over by Stalin like Eastern Europe in the end.

  3.  @malter87  Also I think D-Day was held back as long as possible to let Germany and Russia kill each other. D-Day was about getting to Germany before Russia took the whole county and some of western Europe like they did with eastern Europe. The US was never in Danger from Germany , so why loses millions over a country that never attack you like Japan.

  11. We let the Nazi and Communist kill each other for as long as possible before launching D-Day in 1944. Plan worked. 6 million Nazi troops killed ,10 million Red Army killed. The US and Britain lost 500 thousand each. That's how you fight a war.

They had to Guard the coast from France to Norway and police those countries , they had to man Thousands of AA Guns. They Allies were coming up Italy and they sure needed lot of firefighters from every city being bombed day and night.

  20. The US could out produce Germany and Russia combined. The US Navy like today was larger than the rest of the world navies combined. We people in North America were never in a threat of being invaded . Life in Europe would have change not so much in America.

  22. The France plan was brilliant. Surrender with no damaged cities , have bread and wine under the Eiffel Tower and wait for D-Day to come and bail them out.

On paper the US could have fought two Germanys. The US was in its own category during WW2.

  24. Look more like you need more people on your side. 70 million person Germany was not beating 120 million USA , 56 million Britain and 160 million USSR. While needing troops to just occupy and Police the countries Germany already took over.

Than the UK with Canada ,Australia ,New Zealand and India sending manpower and resources. Occupying Russia alone would hold back a million troops. They needed 500,000 German just to police Norway and Denmark. Then along comes the B-29 and A-bomb in 1945 right on schedule.

Russia came out militarily stronger but exhausted with a wasteland of war torn country sides and burned out cities and 24 million dead.   35. Even without the USA Britain had control of the seas and colonies like Canada, Australia ,New Zealand and India to get manpower and resources from. Unlike WW2 France WW1 France was no pushover.

  49.  @Loreless  You have to Guard occupied countries they do not fight for you. If anything German lost a lot of manpower having to Police their conquered nations. With that thinking Britain has 600 million people in India.

  50. Same thing as ww2 for Germany. You can not fight three industrialized 1st world countries at once on your own.
