  1. Consider that the 2-births-per-woman replacement rate assumes that the genders are balanced which isn't the case in China. Those who were born before the one-child policy began and those after are likely balanced (diluting the true extent of the problem), but those of childbearing age are VERY unbalanced, perhaps as high as 3:1. So for China to be at replacement rate, each woman of childbearing age would need to give birth to FOUR children to replace herself, her partner, and each male who is unable to find a wife!

I have enough respect for the Chinese people (though not the CCP) that I'm willing to engage with them. When you have genuine conversations, you will learn some words along the way. I also know that not every Chinese who posts is a troll. Many get past the firewall and post to learn what they can - what the CCP is hiding like the "3 years of difficulties" and those are opportunities for me to learn what's really going on in China as well from at least that person's perspective.

Management changes, market conditions change, products may no longer be relevent - the idea that you "never sell" was something you read into what I wrote. The lack of transparency by the CCP is a very good reason to avoid China - you can't make good decisions without reliable information.

Diversification isn't a meme - it is tried and true advice that has withstood many downturns. How well will you be sleeping if your $480K became $240K overnight? Diversification can limit losses and reduces volitility. That large a cash position will erode your purchasing power through inflation.

The motivation would have to be very strong for these highly educated Nationals to opt for a return to China and give up their freedom. Perhaps "threat" would be more accurate if their loved ones are at risk.

  34.  @covercalls88  I agree with you, but that's enough rice to last a couple of adults for a whole year. None of the lockdowns have been that long, so I'd be prepping for famine, not lockdown. Have to be very careful not to let those around you see that you're eating - get very skinny and wear baggy clothes - or your food stores could cost you your life.
