  3. how does it perform on vhf on rx Lewis? i had one with the older type display and it was great on uhf but used to get swamped on vhf.

  9. they look quite well made. The BF888 are ok but not the best quality ever lol. It's nice to see some better built units out there. I have to say I quite like having the 2 function keys on the side of my radios but I do see your point about simplicity. Can't wait to see them in use. Hope u are well buddy?

  10. Ringway Manchester yeah I know mate I do have fits and starts sometimes I listen loads and other times I don't bother much at all. It's always there mate we will catch up at some point soon.

  17. I had 2 or 3 of these i used them as cordless phones around me house. They were me first digital cordless phones. They worked ok apart from the battery life being rubbish when they were left off the base charger. We never had any hot spots round here to use them as a mobile phone.

  26. Looks like u had a good bank holiday mate. Next step with the antenna building is to try a dual band model. 5 8ths on uhf and quater wave on vhf just stick a coile in the bottom of the driven element to bring the radiation angle down on UHF. Realy easy. Nice video enjoyed it.

  38. There was talk of using spread spectrum beingvused on 2vmeters when it was being used more. I think that was in the early to mid 90's. I saw article's in one of the radio mags about it. I think thats as far as it ever got tho.

  47. its a cracking idea sweing as there isnt much in the way of high power mobile stuff available for ham radio. All of the commercial stuff is good but its far more expansive than this option. I like it Lewis can ya tell? lol
