@dcc1700 I guess the idea is entitlement. One expects others to give one unicorns because one wants unicorns.
6
Christopher Watch how the UK sells itself to the US. The US demands the pound to be bound to the US dollar, privatization of NHS and flushing of food standards.
6
@davidrobertsemail The UK is a nice to have market, but the UK exports 44% of its goods in the EU. The EU exports 8%. So 92% of EU trade is with the outside world. The EU exports for 1800 billion globally.
6
@suroj Really, where does it say so and how many? Protest in Belgium are about the austerity politics of the government. Remember the austerity politic the Tories use in the UK and the British accept it like sheep while people in Belgium don't.
6
@andrewcheshire7846 It is what the British government wanted, it is what the British government negotiated and what the PM signed.
6
William Go - What many forget are the millions of Indians, Australians, Canadians, South Africans and all other dominions and colonial countries that fought for the British. Not to mention pilots from Poland and France that fought in the battle of Britain.
6
David Hargreaves No England and Wales voted leave. NI and Scotland voted to stay. By thevway Gibraltar voted to stay in the EU with over 96% as well.
6
It is amazing how often they lie as they want to keep NI as some orange county 19th century.
6
denkanhenk - Johnson is a notorious liar, lazy and does not care for details. What to expect from a man who wasted 50 million on an never build bridge.
6
@1aatlas Destroy parts of the economy, lose jobs, lose tax revenue, get higher taxes and the fun part all problems remain but they are increased by crushing out.
6
Johnson has one plan become king and PM is the closest he can get. He does not care for anyone or anything.
6
Thomas Bevan - Not much longer the Japanese will pack up and more back into the EU single market and customs union. They may leave in parts or as a whole, but they surely will return into the EU as this brought them to Europe in the first place.
6
@mw01908 As the UK becomes a third country which has no treaties with the EU. So tariffs apply, tons of paperwork has to be checked, customs duties paid, standards for foods checked. It is like any other border to a third country which has no treaties with the EU.
5
@lorenacharlotte8383 Shared Souvereignty makes 27 souvereign countries stronger, one has more power as a 16 trillion economy. The 2 trillion British choose to be a rule taker. We see that in the Japan UK trade treaty in which the benefit for Japan is 84% according to UK trade negotiators.
5
MrFirstdonoharm - Is this your gut feeling?
5
@johnathanpearson3203 What is your claim based on? Is it a study or a gut feeling. If it is a study please share a link so we can evaluate it. In all other cases thank you for sharing such an emotional moment of your life with us.
5
@johnathanpearson3203 - What does the UK export? The UK buys stuff (low pound buys less) make other stuff out of it. So the weaker the pound the more costly to import the parts one need to build and then export. In reality the UK just loses.
5
@davidrobertsemail If the UK would treat international treaties like this then no one will want one with them. By the way the UK depends for 44% of its exports on the EU. We talk here of up to 3 million British jobs. By the way the EU will sue the UK if they don't pay. The yearly losses for the UK of not being in the EU single market and customs union have been estimated to be between 70 to 100 billion per year. Unaccounted for are the companies leaving the UK or downsizing and the job losses included in that.
5
@m.a.4500 What is your concern about a fictional story? Are we discussing later the danger of magic as shown in Harry Potter?
5
Rich elite Tory millionaires tell the people what they have to believe. Some people even thank their elitist leaders.
5
@enoch6450 Really? Can you explain to me the difference between a trade treaty like Canada and the EU single market, customs union, frictionless trade all EU member states have? I think there is a misunderstanding. Let me make it clear the UK benefits massively (about 100 billion) from EU membership. If the UK would have nothing then they loose 100 billion per year. If they had a Canada trade treaty they lose about 70 billion per year compared to EU membership.
5
Louise Rothwell - An all Irish government asked the British occupation force to leave. They stayed in NI and erected a British border in Ireland. So it is a British choice to cling to that Irish territory.
5
@jamesosullivan7049 And Today the UK has to face the consequences of occupying Irish territory even a as an all Irish government asked the British occupation force to leave.
5
@wakey87 I thought countries like India fought to become independent and thousands of Indians were put in prison. A certain Gandhi and a few million Indians wanted to be free from oppression.
5
@lisadiane10001 It is the act of the UK to crash out that erects trade barriers and a hard border. It is a fact as the UK breaks all existing arrangements and nothing any longer is regulated.
5
It seems some MP's do not get it that this is a withdrawal agreement.
5
Tania Thorn - The government is not interested in the real numbers. Death outside hospitals have not been counted. In France for example where they are counted everywhere 50% of death happen outside hospitals. So the UK number are twice as high and that means the UK is after the US the state with the most dead from the virus. The Tories do not like that so they try to hide the facts and obfuscate.
5
Michal - Yes. This lawyer does not understand what a withdrawal agreement is. This is about losing every benefit and settling your accounts.
5
@clarksonbarry If you listen to Brexit Minford then he proposes zero tariffs for the UK and that his plan will destruct manufacture and agriculture in UK. He considers it a good thing. This is the Minford Brexit.
5
@William Stewart The UK will be sued for every pound the UK owes. Every country in the world will notice when the UK breaks treaties and does not keep up with the obligations they have.
5
Slaine Saxon - Why are people so eager to trade on the lowest level like Mauretania? From all WTO members only Mauretania trades solely under the lowest trade conditions aka WTO. All other WTO countries have made trade treaties and arrangements with their closest trading partners. Many of these countries are in trade blocs to increase their leverage and joined power in trade negotiations.
5
@ElectricInevitability The EU is a 16 trillion market and a giant beside the US with 20 trillion and China with 12 trillion. The UK is a 2 trillion economy with a long way to look up to The giants.
5
Jack - Who are these mysterious unnamed companies?
5
The choice is between the kings of fools and notorious liar Johnson, the nose full of white powder Gove and then the choice gets worse.
4
@ollienoble9683 France, Italy, Germany and the UK contribute more then 10% each to the EU budget. The UK contributes about half of what Germany does. So the UK is not the largest but one of four larger and Germany contributes most.
4
@therrawbuzzin9517 That demand of May was against the EU basic rules and unacceptable. It is embarrassing that after 40 years the UK pretends not to know the basics of the EU, part of which has been written by the UK.
4
This means get ready for a horrible crash without any control, any plan.
4
mikeww - And a day later of a year later Trump can add on a whim add 5% or 10 or 20% tariffs.
4
Damien I think some people do not like to see more then one million British as immigrant on the EU 27.
4
Johnson believed he would be faithful. How many woman he betrayed know it was a lie?
4
@Rosy Afternoon Do not worry about the Germans they lost two world waes and are Today the strongest economy in Europe. They will handle it. By the way Germany are meticolous in many things they do even in no deal preparations. Some German companies are already pulling out of the UK. We can guess this results in job lossedin the UK unless they come with the company.
4
@yakivpopavich We will bring Putin in front of an international court of justice for his war crimes, fir murdering civilians. 141 countries condemn Putin's war of aggression. The sanctions start to work as two Russian plants had to stop building tanks as they no longer get parts from the world.
4
@richardhills6952 Spain already said they would not object Scotland. So Scotland can break free from the Westminster super state and be welcome in the EU.
4
stonemere - Running away from once obligations does not solve anything as the UK will then get sued. WTO are the lowest and worst possible trading conditions. Only Mauritania trades exclusively under WTO. All other member states made better arrangements and treaties at least with their closest trading partners.
4
@MrAllnvme As I said South Korea tested and tracked down every single case. The UK missed that as the Tories are sleeping. While South Korea hunted down the virus Johnson made 2 week holiday. Then he got ill from hand shaking in the middle of a pandemic. Oh yes and Johnson infected an unspecified number of people. Oh yes the UK wasn't testing nor tracking.
4
@awesomeavenger2810 The UK agreed that it owed the sum. Be assured the EU can and will sue the UK. They are the one with a plan. The embarrassment to run away from obligations will haunt the UK fur a long time if they try to.
4
Louise Rothwell The problem is that the invitation to leave for the British came from an all Irish government in the 20th century. The British choose to ignore it and erect a British border. The Good Friday Agreement has been negotiated between two EU members and the basis of this treaty was EU membership so as the UK leaves one has to make a new treaty protecting the GFA. The UK failed to do that so far.
4
Propel Grüner- The UK seem to be in slow motion. Not to mention that the government seems to lie a lot.
4
@chiffmonkey Which influence that is lost the moment the UK becomes a third country? Europe consists of two kind of countries, small ones and the ones who have not realized that they are small. By the way why should 27 soverwign nations dance to the tune of a third country?
4
Northern Ireland voted yes to stay in the EU.
