Honestly, the most trouble comes from the people who are above average, but not as far above average as they think they are.

  2.  @svetavinogradova4243  I couldn't agree with you more, about how parents need to make sure their kids have the capability to make it in the world. If your kid needs you to devote extra hours all the time to get them up to speed -- and not take any short cuts like doing their homework for them -- that's exactly what being a parent is all about. What would help parents (and the kids), is having more ways to make it in the world, and the more of these ways that schools explore, the better.

Even if Joe is scrupulous in his boundary-crossing, he's encouraging people boundary-cross in ways that are nowhere near so scrupulous.

  22.  @rustymcrae7739  I have personal experience with the fact that cannabis causes autism. It is far from harmless, and likely to be why we're seeing the spike in autism cases nationwide. Psilocybin is fashionable, but bad trips on such drugs are why the Aztecs had such a f*cked up religion. This certainly went out of fashion and it's a good thing too.

He's very upfront about that. ;) Matt's "dictator" mode is extremely amusing when he's doing it as a joke, but it's also very inspirational when he's addressing subjects upon which there should really be no debate, like butchering children. It's good to have bedrock values like that, and it's not surprising that a place like Daily Wire has a commentator that has opinions too strong to be a good interviewer. Klavan, Shapiro, and Knowles are all flexible enough to conduct a fairly mainstream kind of interview. Peterson too, almost. When Matt interviews, you get movies like "What is a Woman" and "Am I Racist". The whole point is, that the person he's talking to is just profoundly wrong.

Which has the added relevance (in this discussion) of using Russian Orthodox themes as the depressing context in which the thrill of the springtime theme is embedded. The counter-argument to that, of course, is the elegiac heartbreak of Grieg's "The Last Spring". I hate to leave the discussion there -- I find Dostoevsky's optimism too appealing -- but I need sleep.

The whole reason we don't let children make decisions is their judgement is flawed, not just because of some arbitrary timer. He accuses Vladimir Putin, conqueror of Crimea etc, of exhibiting "toxic masculinity" and claiming if he were a woman he would not be doing what he is doing. Boris blithely ignores the fact that Russia originally conquered Crimea from the heirs of the Mongols, as well as Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, and part of Poland, under none other than Catherine the Great.

Best you can hope for at this point is to wind that down as gracefully as possible. Links with the FBI have already been made public too, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were remaining differences of opinion between Twitter and the Indian government, as there would be with any Indian company. Lots of things can be true at once. It would be far more useful if you could provide us with some details about the rumor problems that India had, with various social media sites, a few years back (or possibly ongoing). I pay attention to some Indian news outlets but there are only so many hours in a day, even at 2x video speed. If there's a real problem for regular people (as opposed to a PR disaster for politicians or government agencies) that India is trying to solve, it would be good to get that out into the open to discuss it, so that we can together come up with a solution that benefits everyone as much as possible. Free speech, and all that. =)

In fact -- and this is the most insidious thing about all of this -- it's easier to make more money, because a lot of your competitors are going to be betting on stocks that actually would help the economy (in the absence of government interference), leaving the stocks you're picking based purely on the expectation of future regulatory capture, at a discount. ESG investing is pure corruption. It harms the virtuous and elevates the vicious. It causes famine (and the wars, plagues, and death that follows.) It destroys the structures that billions of lives depend on.
