I've taken apart many engines in in my 58 years! I've NEVER seen that much smoo in a crankcase! I wonder if this engine is a victim of 10 cans of oil stop leak? The oil appears to have the consistency of light grease! 😮

I also follow Eric O! Yes, there are good mechanics/techs out there! Do you follow Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics?
18
I wonder how long this engine lasted?! Any follow up?

Fairly new subscriber. Becoming one of my favorite channels!
10
Yes, more stories! It's good to know someone's backstory!

Was the customer charged anything for your time? 🤔

Thanks for showing how a possie rear end works! Never have had one apart!
7
Just when did he claim that?

It's gotta be true if on the internet!

I've replaced several CV axles. Thought, "What am I going to learn watching this one?". 1. Tapping on the opposite axle can push the one your working on out. 2. Put the gap on the retainer ring at the top! Thank you!

Thanks for the vibration tutorial!

In my opinion, that filter off of the Jeep, was ~75% plugged?

Sometimes they get what they're handed and have to build around it. I've done some design work. There are a lot of obstacles they avoided. However, I agree! This thermostat is stupid through and through!

I installed 5 studs in an auto parts parking lot because studs started breaking during a road trip. The whole strut and wheel bearing was from a salvage yard. We hit something on the road which took out the strut and bearing. Studs probably had been over torqued before I got it. Lucky I was able to put them in without pulling the hub. Manually crank each stud in. Had to improvise because the lack of tools at hand.

What was the problem?

I put an engine in a car that I shouldn't have! Totally rusted out! The owner was young and using the car as a learning experience. Everything turned out okay. I used that experience to advise another person that the only thing keeping his Dodge Dakota from folding in half was the box leaning against the back of the cab! Sure, I could have gotten it running if I drained the gas tank of diesel!

CVT's the next automotive weakness!

Did wheel bearings on an '05 Vue. Owner attempted the repair himself but couldn't get the old ones off. I had to remove parts from the vehicle and press them out! Reason for the story. When I had the car apart, I rotated the driver's side axle. Yep, someone really worked those spider gears! Ended up not only installing wheel bearings, but a transmission! https://youtube.com/shorts/_P3ULTG2idQ?feature=share

You got my interest mentioning Randy's. I don't live very far from their MN location! Thinking about rebuilding the transfer case on my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thank!

Does the fuel have contact with the intake runners and valves? I don't think so on GDI. How would running a lower rated octane fuel cause build up? The greater the octane number, the more resistance the fuel has to burn under compression.

@lowbudgetbob1155 not sure where he's getting his information....

Engine sucked water into that cylinder. Like Kenny said, "Water doesn't compress." Piston comes up to the point it hits the water and stops. The rod bens. Since the rod is bent, it's shorter. On its way down at the bottom, it hits the crankshaft counter weight. The piston skirt takes a hit, breaks off. The rest is history.

Gonna hit him with a sub! Maybe one day he can tell me some of the options that can with my late father's 1958 Plymouth Suburban. Profile picture.

Algorithm boost

Noticed the outside of the first rotor is drastically worn thinner than the inside. I don't think that just started the one day he told you. Lots of material removed!
3
Do you remember when wheel cylinder kit were available in over size? They also included a little bubble of assembly lube for the rubber cup and piston. I remember my first encounter with disk brakes. '71 Plymouth. The rotor was roughen up by metal on metal. I took an angle grinder, when I put the grinding wheel on the disk, it started rotating. Perfect! New surface! Was it too thin? Probably. It lasted the life if the car. LoL 😂😆 I was probably 15-17 years old.

Why are manufacturers going away from spin on filters?
3
The piston in the master cylinder goes past the hole that lets fluid in front the reservoir. Fluid is blocked off.
3
I believe the name of the rods are fractured.
3
How many miles were on the existing belt? How close were you to having the old belt off and replace it?
3
@deanmeyer1815 I believe you are correct. Kenny just got the car.

The world may never know!!

Question: 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 Scanner shows lower than battery voltage in the BCM. Scanner shows true battery voltage other than the BCM.

Project Farm Farm did battery testing. Walmart's EverStart got a high rating. Do a search.

ECM keeping the coil continuously energized ? 🤔
2
He would have only changed the clutch if it was available separately.

Bought my '03 Forester with the seller claiming it needed head gaskets. Turns out, the lower radiator hose clamp had broken on the non-adjustable side. Don't have a vehicle diagnosed over the phone!

RMR great channel!

Appreciate your videos!

EXCELLENT!

Learn from other people's mistakes, you don't have enough time to make them all yourself! 😂
2
@vistakay the water pressure is also pushing the valve tighter. If the water could be pushed through the valve sealing surfaces, it wouldn't hold back the forces of the combustion.
2
@j.b.9895 even buying a used car.... How do we know the maintenance history of it? I think your suggestions are a good idea!
2
@daveg1795 thank you for that correction!
2
Great tip! Will stick into my memory for when the need arises!

My channel name is to show I'm always learning, and hopefully, people watching will realize they have an opportunity to add something new to their memory bank. (They don't know everything!)

I believe some people have checked into what I believe is a myth that there's too much clutch material in various pockets in the fluid system. If the fluid is changed, that material gets broken loose and causes transmission failure. I changed the fluid in a 350,000+ Toyota Camry transmission and didn't have any issues. Haven't had enough experiences to really prove it's not a myth.

Any suggestions for insurance for small time mechanics?
2
How much overfill is too much? Getting into the rotating assembly is too much! Some people get alarmed if it's 1/2 qt overfilled.
