This is the first "Will it run" video I've seen from you. All of the other ones have been what "killed it"!

Our '97 Accord is approaching 300,000 miles! Running great!

@PresidentSkroob12345 isn't that basically what he said? 🤔
21
At the time of this writing you have 410,000+ subscribers! From one creator to another, CONGRATULATIONS!!

YEP, caught the damaged glow plug.
16
1997 Honda Accord. 334,000+ miles on it. Running strong!
16
A automotive machinist that's worth their salt should be able to extract that broken pulley bolt. Worst case would be a thread insert. Grind undersize, and usable crank.
16
Hey Ray! Good to see you!
16
Did you get your Subaru engine?
16
When measuring, make sure the wiring can carry current as well as voltage. A bad wire can carry voltage but not current.
16
Big Bone!

I watch with headphones 🎧. She's definitely not interested.

Great video! Nice recording and editing! I have a '99 Camry with 440,000+ miles on it and still running well. It's going to rust out before the engine/transmission dies. All original.
9
Do you think the tensioner failed causing this engine to be returned?
9
YEP 👍!
9
YEP 👍 It would be a runner!!

"Grandma, may I borrow your car?" "Sure sweetie, I've been meaning to get it into Hyundai for my 4th free oil, oil change. Would you please take it in for me?" "Sure Grandma!" . . . . Ring Ring Ring Grandma answers: "Grandma, your car just 'SHUT OFF' when I was entering the freeway!"....... "No I didn't hear anything above the sound system!"
7
Engine would have definitely ran again with belts and head gasket.
7
That engine would match the milage of my '99 Camry. 430,000+ miles!
7
'03 Forester was using 1 qt/1000 miles or less. Pulled the pistons. Rings looked very similar to what you have here. Oil feed holes behind the oil control rings were plugged full with brown carbon! Drill and a little bit to clean them out! Haven't driven it far enough to tell if my ring job was successful. Can't see that'll hurt anything!
6
Yep, that engine would have ran with a new belt!
6
Always enjoy watching these tare downs! Engines I've never had the opportunity to work on.
5
@kennykennedy6298 low tension rings is a huge issue!!
5
Cool
5
Thank you for donating the engine!

@RainmanRaysRepairs ❤❤❤❤❤ Now I know why I enjoy your channel!!

2003 Subaru Forester. Using 1qt of oil at around 1000 miles. ~217,000 miles on it. I pulled it down for the sole purpose of putting new rings in it. The oil return holds behind the stuck oil rings were plugged with hard brown carbon! I literally had to clean the holes with a drill! Haven't driven it enough to know if my mission was successful.
4
Thanks for taking the time to video these engine tare downs. I get to see engines that I wouldn't get a chance to see. Some fun parts is the ability to understand what each part does because of experience with other engines.
4
Next engine tare down, carefully save the chain guides, then run them over with your forklift!😅

At the time of this writing you have 406,000+ subscribers! Congratulations!!
4
Oil rings look just like the two Subaru Forester engines I've put new rings in.
4
@rodneygarner9880 good observation!!
3
A rod bearing WHO?
3
Yes, that was a "FLUKE" measurement!
3
Algorithm boost

"Except Subaru!" I just got done putting new rings in my '03 Forester. Got tired of 1000 or less on a qt of oil! The oil rings were glued to the piston. The little oil holes behind the oil rings were filled with carbon that was brown! I literally had to use a drill and a small bit to open them up! I have around 400 miles on it since the engine work. Don't know if I was successful putting it in a 12 step program or will it relapse? LoL 😂😆
3
Do you think it ran out of oil?

I changed a 2005 Hyundai Sonata engine that had a rod nocking wanting to see the light of day again. Got a replacement from a company that imports them from the mother land, Korea. I've kept the core an just recently pulled a cam cap to see if the head, or whole engine is salvageable with a replacement crank and rod. I'll tag you in the comments section on my channel. I don't have enough subscribers for YouTube to allow me to contact other channels.
3
The oil rings are the same condition I've seen in Subarus.
3
'00 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L 265,000+ miles. Doing easy on oil. Running well.😊

@jordantomblin2302 there's a slight ticking during cold starting. Doesn't last very long.
2
@jordantomblin2302 if you're interested in vintage vehicles, check out the playlist on my channel about my late father's 1958 Plymouth Suburban. Perhaps you might enjoy following along as I get it back to daily driver condition?
2
@prestonmiller6528 interesting. 🤔 The seal it mounts to the block?
2
Thanks for showing me an engine that I wouldn't normally see! Enjoyed the tare down!
2
He mentioned it several videos back. It is a cleaver design!

Did this truck have a manual odometer? My 1985 Dodge plow truck didn't show past 100,000 miles. However, remember, with every push with a plow truck, they back up. When it backed up, so did the odometer. Plus, idling during winter with lower oil pressure can cause the bearings to be wiped out like that.

"This thing is out of wack!" Give it more WACK!!😂
