They are a distraction from the real issues we can see with out own eyes, they don't offer any credible solutions, make you feel paranoid and powerless, and give political opposition ammunition to marginalise otherwise reasonable viewpoints. Conspiracy theories are easily recognisable in that they lie on a thin and hackneyed body of evidence and falsifications to suit a confirmation bias. Baseless scapegoating happens when movements with completely opposed views and ideals accuse the same group of people, through grotesque generalisations, of working against their views and ideals. Sorry if I initially came across as aggressive. While these are difficult times, finding workable solutions for a better future requires clear-sightedness and nuance.
