  1. I fully understand the small state approach to running a country, and I'm in favour of it. The issue with the Leave campaign, and the reason I could not get behind it, was that its aims were unclear and too disparate. As the leave campaign did not put out a clear post-EU roadmap, people voted to leave the EU for very different reasons. Frankly, the people who voted to leave the EU thinking it would reduce immigration from the third world were quite dumb on this occasion. Vote Leave's Global Britain slogan raised the alarm bells for me.

  4. British people are on the whole politically illiterate... it's showing with each passing day. Partly not their fault, you just need to look at the MSM and the newspapers to understand why. Also the two party system in bed with them. Sad but true.

It also leads to a two-party system and it forces people to vote tactically rather than according to what they believe in. Don't tell me we don't have a con-lab coalition here pretending to be opposites.

  42. You have to pay the licence fee to watch 50+ channels, not just the BBC. The BBC is holding British people to ransom just to watch TV. Therefore the license fee should be abolished and all channels should be privatised, like the railways.

  43.  @GoIdenApple  I'd prefer a tax limited to financing transmitters and the Internet infrastructure (eventually TV will be entirely broadcast via the Internet). That tax would be much lower than the licence fee, and channels would have to operate privately. Maybe you don't like watching TV at all... but otherwise why deprive yourself of something you've always enjoy because the BBC and ITN push a woke agenda?
