  1. I resist the idea that Nazis were fascists bc they weren't fascist, they were socialists. As for conservatives painting Nazism as a leftist ideology, you have that backwards. Socialists called Nazism fascist to distance themselves from the similarities between Nazi ideology and other forms of socialism. It isn't good marketing to say "Come be a socialist. The ideology of Hitler."

  9. LBH, the use of lower case fascism became a practice bc Neo-Marxist academics didn't want people associating their ideas with the "enemy" from WW2. However, Hitler considered himself a socialist and Mussolini was a prominent Marxist-Socialist before being expelled from the Italian Marxist-Socialist Party for advocating joining the First World War like every other European Marxist-Socialist did including Lenin. Fascism and Nazism, therefore, are derived from Socialism.

  14. ​ @TASCOLP  the easiest way I think of explaining the difference is this, Nazism is a race based socialism wherein the purpose is to create a socialist state for a particular race-- in the case of Hitler it was the Aryan Race was being opposed by Jews who infiltrated capitalism and Bolshevism--whereas Fascism argues that the first class people create outside the direct family is the State and therefore the State should be the driver and beneficiary of policies that mainly borrow from socialist ideas. In some ways, National Socialism is a better name for Fascism but Mussolini was appealing to the Roman heritage of the Italian State.

This is not the case. I would say that socialism is organizing society with communal ownership of private property. The variation comes in how you define communal ownership.

However, that doesn't change the fact that Nazism is a form of socialism. Two things can be true and in opposition at the same time.

All you have to do to get modern leftists to support many of the same positions as Hitler is replace Jew with Man as happened with the Grievance Study Affair.

Also, you are making the mistake that Marxism is the only form of socialism which ignores pre-Marxian socialism as well as contemporary schools of socialism that were opposed to Marxism such as the movement led by Bakunin. When you obtain a fuller understanding then you will no longer have to jump through hoops saying Hitler wasn't a socialist and can tell the simple truth.

No sane person would say this which is why small f fascism is a bullshit definition for Fascism and we should stick to the historical definition which is far more leftist than anyone realizes. Mussolini was a prominent Marxist-Socialist and Hitler voluntarily descrived himself as a socialist. Volksgemeinschaft was the class Hitler's socialism sought to benefit. Just because a socialist class isn't defined on economic grounds doesn't mean it isn't a socialist class.

Furthermore, fascism as it has been misdefined also describes Communist country. By the idiotic definition you are using Stalin was a fascist. Methinks you need to study some actual history. Definitions: Nazism was socialism for the benefit of the Aryan people and to liberate them from the oppression of capitalist and Bolshevik Jews. Fascism is a syndicalist totalitarian system which thought that the state should be paramount in society. They are not the same ideology and whoever says they are is lying.
