I am not even sure its an ethnicity! I think its to lump Mexico (North America), Central America and the continent of South America into one blob of "Spanish speakers" (Sorry Brazil, Guyana, Surinam!) that are south of Texas. I hear it most from Americans (as in from the USA). I don't mind, but its weird because I am from Argentina and our lifestyle is pretty different to say, Mexico or Bolivia. Even the language can be quite different. And none of us speaks Latin, LOL.

@glennellis1584 1880s really, but I see what you did, without even using the other n word.

@JamesSmith-qv9qo I don't have enough Italian ancestors, they are the wrong gender, and they came very early (for Argentina, before 1900) so the line of descent is broken. The family is also missing documentation. My dad (a type A lawyer) tried to get his Italian passport, no dice. Strangely for Argentina my mom is 0% Italian, I am surprised I can't lose my nationality for this reason alone LOL. From what I understand Italian law made it much easier about 20-25 years ago (or so). Back then, during yet another severe crisis of state in Argentina, tons of (educated) people my parents age went for second passports in Italy and many received them. Now everyone moves to Spain. Barcelona is becoming a suburb of Buenos Aires.

We do tax it, its called the Clean Air Act.

Add more money and one will appear. Probably more than one. If you are taking a woman from one fabulous house to another business class or better you really shouldn't have an issue, in fact you might have a waiting list.
4
@barackthecomposer6642 Biden wants to federalize zoning, so that HUD can put public housing/apartments/casitas/"density" in neighborhoods with single family homes. For the fairness, and the children, of course. What is amazing is that people in my neighborhood in DC, which is full of single family houses in the 2-20 million dollar range, have those idiotic virtue signaling yard signs saying they want "more density". LOL. I need to sell and get out.

@louisbarbisan2608 Once you reach North Dakota you have actually left Canada and can pretty freely move around the US. There are no domestic travel vax mandates in the US. No guarantees that holds forever, I hear they are cooking up a new virus. The problem for Canadians is that you still cannot legally cross the US border as an unvaxxed foreigner tourist visa holder. Some Canadians get lucky and just drive across with few questions, but its not guaranteed.
4
Mexico is great until you enter. Then it is full on health theater everywhere you go.
4
I am so annoyed that the US will not allow foreign nationals to enter legally with just a PCR test (or no test). Maybe after 2022. Best wishes from your neighbor to the south. The US is currently annoying to enter for the unvaxxed, but fine once you get in. Even DC seems done with the health uber alles.
4
Dude. Canada is nice maybe 3 months a year. Unless you are a polar bear or live in Toronto where its 4.
4
Apparently I do nothing but waste Swiss people's time then, haha, thanks for the tip. No matter the city, language, meeting or ski resort, the Swiss seem really annoyed with me all the time - particularly any sort of "service" personnel.
4
I am sick and tired of Joe Biden.
4
@hernandayala I hear its fatal in the end =)
4
Argentina is a tragedy.
4
The Man in the High Castle is a short-ish book by Philip K Dick, one of the more interesting writers of our time. His unique imagination has inspired tons of interesting movies - Bladerunner for instance.
4
@ib9511 The US needs to drop that obnoxious law, but we won't. Sorry, neighbors. Our government sucks too.
4
The new (awful) incoming German government says it will make getting a German passport easier, and relax the rules on not allowing German citizens to hold more than one passport. They also say they will allow you to choose your gender, so of course I want to go troll them and start my life as a German man as soon as this law passes. They say they will "reduce" the time to 3-5 years to put it in perspective. But the new government is going to tax everything even more than it is taxed now (its the stoplight coalition, with the useless allegedly libertarian FDP going along with the lefties and greens) so I would not bet the farm on the no cap gains on crypto thing going forward. They are going to have to tax everything to pay for what they are planning.

zero figure entrepreneurs, I love it.

@toddjohnsen7996 Yeah Argentina (and Uruguay) is crazy with various quarantines lately, but I know some Aussies and Kiwis who have lived in Argentina for years using the "Buquebus" visa plan. Ferry to Colonia every 3 months. But its a new world now with the virus and borders close randomly.

Everyone else paid about 0% on their wealth in the US, therefore Buffett overpaid. The problem with the US is that idiots who don't know the difference between income and wealth (or really much about anything) vote, now right from the convenience of their couch months before and after election day. its not good.

@Timithos Lebanon really isn't even a country in any sense of the word. The people are highly divided and mostly crazy. The government goes from nonexistent to terrible, but it is completely incompetent to enforce its will on anything. Hezbollah runs half the country and has a parallel government, but does not seem inclined to impose Shariah or crush the party scene. In spite of this the lifestyle is actually pretty good. What is written in the paper is not what you experience in everyday life. Faraya has good skiing (the village sucks, the European village scene is much better). The private beaches are some of the best in the world. The nightlife is fantastic as is the shopping. I've never had a banking issue there, the banks have actually treated me better than banks in Argentina or the US. Its not for everyone, but if you have connections to the country its a good no-low tax lifestyle.

Ugh, such a long flight! Even with the massage plane seats. Personally I'd pick somewhere nice in Europe to deprogram my kids from Dubai's mall rat culture.
3
Find a seller who accepts crypto?
3
@conversationclub8230 I couldn't live there full time, but as part of a trifecta it might be OK. And the rest of the Emirates are going the way of Dubai as far as style, even RAK. Dubai is basically the newest, glitziest city in India, it seems like every Indian Muslim lives and/or works there for at least a year.
3
@HunkyMan777 The "olfactory experience" can also be rather bracing.
3
@robtriton Trump deranged people can't help it. You say Trump and they say FOXNEWSREEE. Its weird. And no, I don't watch Fox, and I'm a libertarian. Nothing really happens at 11:30, the guy just gives another of his opinions about large government and the direction of the US. Some of which I agree with and some of which I do not. But its still interesting.
3
News flash: There is never a one off tax. Once they figure out they can rob you they never stop.
3
Fact check Lebanon. There are some good doctors there but just remember these lists are published as clickbait. Lebanon on top probably get them more eyeballs on the list.
3
@trevcam6892 The US permits multiple passports. Always has. Many Americans can become Irish yet so few do, it seems very odd to me.
3
It was a Sci-fi writer idea from the 1980s, his more famous book was Cryptonomicon. I don't see the world moving that direction these days, but what do I know? But Stepenson had a lot of interesting ideas.

I was harassed constantly in Istanbul, and I dress modestly and am not a flashy person. I travel all the time (or did) so I get the "local customs" thing, but this was above and beyond. Skeevy dudes, scammers and rug sellers constantly interacting with me any time I was visible. I couldn't even sit down in a cafe to eat without constantly being bothered. Its different if you are walking around with a male, but for women alone, Istanbul is not great. Unless you like being bothered.
3
" Also Dream body clinic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico." Oooh, what is that?
3
@NostaIgia Because I am encouraging him to broaden his perspective and increase his options. He's not stupid, he gets it, but I have actually seen collapse firsthand growing up in Argentina.
3
Trump likes debt. But with Trump there was some small hope of a growing economy, which is one way out of debt (or to live with it). With Biden we will have even more debt, and stagnation and then Kamala. Americans under 60 really haven't seen how fast things can go to sh*t. They can, and once they do its very hard to get back to normal. Look at the history of my country, Argentina, as an example.
3
I can't wait for the new Agency of Eating, with armies of bureaucrats and enforcers to help us with this lifestyle. I feel healthier already!
3
on the streets? in the streets? I hate prepositions lol.
3
Do we really? America has become very shushy lately. I know its not the government, they have outsourced it to twitter.

@michaelreid8857 Final quick example, you are an adult do as you please. Get a passport from Argentina if you want. I HIGHLY recommend you enjoy the country as a tourist. My uncle bought a rundown house in Mendoza to fix it up as sort of a passion project. He is an attorney, he had an attorney and a notary (its an important job in Argentina not just a stamp). A year after he bought it the government fined him thousands of dollars (zillions of pesos) because (they said) the property had various tax liens and levies against it. That were of course undocumented prior to the sale, but now are due, to the government. with interest, fees & fines still being added daily. Also do some research into the really nasty quarantine the country just had. This virus is the new normal, and the government of Argentina uses it to put everyone in prison whenever they like. Either a real prison if you go out and get arrested for being outside, or the prison called your house. There is zero reason to become a citizen of Argentina. Just renew your tourist visa forever by taking the ferry to Colonia every 3 months.

@kippsguitar6539 Brazil is boring? That is not an adjective I would attach to Brazil! Loud, interesting, crazy, affectionate, lively, unruly, dirty, beautiful for a few. But I have never found it to be boring. If you want to get a Brazil residency get the right lawyer, because its also quite corrupt. With the right lawyer everything is easier.
3
@WILD JOKER BOXING PROPHET Yes, you do. There are a few (very few) exceptions, but in general Uruguayans are really orderly and follow rules and cant be bribed to ignore the rules. Every Uruguayan I know has been 2x vaxxed and boosted. Uruguay locked out permanent residents and passport holders in 2020, like Australia. They did not lock them in, but you needed special permission to enter your own country. This annoyed me.
3
I moved to the US as well and I agree.
3
Nobody hates America like Americans.
3
@sylphmoon9657 Exactly.
3
Spain Spain Spain Argentina Spain Spain. LOL @ this list.
3
I don't personally care for fancy bags, but I did once sell a vintage Hermes bag for a ton.
3
I predict old "Lunchbox Joe" is going to nationalize (ie. rob) all the private pension plans on his way down the drain. It won't work, but its exactly the kind of thing crappy corrupt politicians do to "help us" and "promote fairness". Think about that before you put another cent in your 401K or IRA.
3
Which one would you suggest? I cant think of one myself. I like Europe just fine but service is generally bad. Part of it is probably a culture of no tipping, but its also a mentality.
3
Hopefully she at least said "Hello, how are you?" first LOL.
3
I would visit Paraguay first, if there is a residency requirement (and I think there is now) you may find its local charms get old pretty fast. Just about anywhere is OK for a visit, even interesting, but for spending serious living time Paraguay is not on my list.
3
@JamesSmith-qv9qo I am not that hot on being Italian, it seems sort of like the Argentina of Europe. I have a US passport and we are going to become St Lucians thanks to the advice here. I want a travel document from somewhere small and disorganized. I have German ancestry too, and women could not pass that on until the 1970s (iirc, fact check me if you are trying for that citizenship or call Nomad Capitalist, to me it seemed very complex/impossible to become German), so I guess Italy is progressively less sexist, LOL.
