  1. I don't think you understand the role of UN or security council. UN wasn't meant to be anything but a way for security members to try and avoid total war and for prestige. It's a toothless entity whose sole purpose is for members of security council to feel important.

  8. Germany didn't lose war against Russia. Germans beat Russians in the last war two nations fought, which was ww1. Ww2 was fought by Soviet Union.

First Chechen war. History has shown us that Russia isn't unbeatable. Now if Russian won this war within a week as West expected, you would have been right. As is? This is rather embarrassing.

Btw, Russia was already losing war at this point. Communists took power from temporary government and only after the war with Germany ended had war between Red and White armies happened. So yes, Russia did lose ww1 to Germans. Badly even.

  20. The problem was that codes for nukes were left in Russia. What Ukraine should have done was ask for defensive guarantees from the West. But they were Russian puppet at the time.

They didn't want to be founders of Soviet Union no more than the Baltics later wanted to join them. But as with all nations that would eventually be part of USSR, their opinion didn't matter.

There is no right to travel to another country without permission of said country. The right of movement is only in the country you are citizen off. You have also the right to leave said country at any time without government obstruction (minus a few exemptions) but you got no right to enter another country if said country doesn't want you.

  27.  @FlamencoLover  not anymore. Taiwan is separate from China. Doesn't matter what Beijing says. CPR these days is mainland only while Taiwan is its own nation that no longer part of what was once China. In ether case, host isn't wrong.

Lithuania and Belarus have similar argument over GDL. Simple fact remains though that host is right. Beijing considers Taiwan part of its territory when this isn't the case. Both nations long since split as nether ever managed to defeat the other.

  30.  @FlamencoLover  Thus host was right. Beijing believes they own Taiwan but that isn't the case. Two nations despite their belief in being true China have been separate for decades. Notice that despite lip service to one China policy, world and even PRC themselves treat Taiwan as separate entity. The only reason it's not treated officially as a separate country with all representation and stuff is because no one wants to break PRC delusions and lose on trade deals.

  32.  @FlamencoLover  China has been threatening and punishing other nations for becoming friendlier with Taiwan for a long time. The most recent being Lithuania. Just like China wants Taiwan, am sure Taiwan would like mainland back to be part of Republic of China again. Nether side will get what they want any time soon. China lost to Taiwan once already. And with US support, it can win a defensive war again.

  33.  @FlamencoLover  it's not threatening, it has done it. And China been threatening it ever since. We Lithuanians can understand Taiwan. We have Russia next to us. And now China been threatening and doing various things to force us to change our mind again. It has done it to others before as well. Granted there is little to fear from paper tiger.

  34.  @FlamencoLover  The difference is, Taiwan as a whole is a nation and been a nation since 20th century. CPR never took over Taiwan and was never able to best them. The difference with Donetsk Republic is because they are not a country. Nor did they succesfully split from Ukraine as until Russia invaded Ukraine, they had only small portion of teritory instead of control of entire Donbass. Not to mention that they were created by Russia and many of it's members are russian soldiers. Funny thing, Donestk in this case is closer to CPR who themselves are the rebels who rose against the government of China, just less sucsesfull ones as they stand no chance of gaining anything without russian support because Ukrainians in area don't support them. The issue of Taiwan isn't internal issue of China anymore because it isn't part of China. As I mentioned before, One China policy is something no one believs in except communists and everyone are just paying lip service out of convinience. Frankly, looking at the way things going in China, CPR might just break apart and be absorbed in CR.

  35. Except CCP never defeated KMT. They pushed them all the way to Taiwan but were unable to take it over because KMT took all planes and ships with them. When they tried again, US got involved. So Taiwan isn't part of China anymore as rebels never took control over it. And according to international law of self determination, Taiwan is free independent nation.

  42. West has built up China to be an economical power house it is today. So it is seen as economic rival. China not invading western countries doesn't mean China never invaded its neighbours ether, neighbors with whom West are allied. Like Taiwan for instance.

NATO very much can win a war with Russia, if Russia's terrible performance in war with Ukraine is any indication. Frankly we expected better from Russian orks. Huh, gender is defined. What do you think would have happened if Germany was stopped right there, before they got powerful enough to challenge other major powers? War with Russia is only a matter of time. European nations are running around getting their gas and oil from other dictatorships that are not Russia as a short term solution, but long term everything going towards renewables. Russia is indeed selling to China and India. What you forget is that they threatened to stop buying unless they have a massive discount, which Russia gave to them. Once the West invest and improves on renewable technology, these same countries will abandon Russia. China and Russia are regional rivals.
