I think this only came out last year, so probably why it’s not here, but apparently when his daughter Lisa was living with him later on both he and his wife at the time treated her really badly. As in bordering on psychological abuse. I mean, obviously everything you read on the internet you take with a grain of salt, and she could hardly be unbiased after how he treated her mum. But it did sound pretty fucked up.

  20. Yeah, even as an Australian I could never figure out why he’s famous. I guess the metal suit & we don’t have much else to have as an icon. 😒 He seems to be particularly liked by a certain segment of society usually also attracted by Southern Cross tattoos on the neck and who would be totally behind the attacking a Chinese merchant because you know you’d get away with it.

For example, when we think ‘Black Death’ we think more specifically of the waves that swept Asia and Europe in the 1300s to 1600s (as detailed in this video), rather than bubonic/pneumonic plague occurring at any other time. Here, ‘Spanish ‘flu’ refers specifically to the 1918 influenza pandemic. Not the source of zoonosis.

  46. Slightly weird request, but could you do a Biographics episode on the British East India company? I know it’s a company, not a person, but if diseases can count... I would ask for it on Business Blaze, but it seems that that’s essentially ‘TopTenz but crazy’ these days. Not a necessarily complaint, just an observation.

  49. Okay, so don’t get me wrong, I’m obviously really glad he was caught, but... How is that thing with using his daughter’s Pap smear legal? Did they get her consent? If they had her consent for DNA then why would they use the Pap smear? Again, don’t get me wrong it’s really good he was caught, but I would feel so violated if I found out my medical records and any path specimens/tissue etc had been viewed/used without my consent like that. Why couldn’t they subpoena him for a DNA sample?
