@Kartik Puri It’s a very interesting incident that I would like to see reliable sources on. PAF obviously changed their story so many times, it is difficult to sift through.

@Kartik Puri There were 4 F-16s more towards the Northeast, with the southerly 3 F-16s in support. The northern F-16s were oriented on the BVR fight with the Su-30MKIs, while the Indian AF tried to use its Flanker High/MiG-21 low tactics to ingress the MiG-21 Bisons in for a high aspect shot on the southerly F-16s. This is all based on the AWACS and Ground Radar coverage of the incident as reported by India. The US would probably be happy to let the incident fade away since we are looking for better relations with India, and don’t want to be seen as throwing our FMS customer, Pakistan, out into the wind. It is interesting that the US State Department issued a reprimand against Pakistan though over this incident.

@BertoxolusThePuzzled JSF is more of a game-changer than most of its proponents are telling. We're talking about THE most revolutionary leap in fighter technologies in history. Propulsion, sensors, networking, avionics, man-machine interface, EW, ISR, weapons parameters, cyber attack, TBM defense, maritime patrol, reliability, maintainability, and ease of flying. Oh yeah, its VLO capabilities are better than anyone is letting on. Mix all that together and you have a revolutionary jump in what can be done with the force structure.

@Luredreier US pioneered fighter data links with SAGE for NORAD ADF before Sweden used a downgraded version of it on the J-35 Draken. It was in F-102 & F-106 before that. SAGE could even remotely-pilot the F-106A into optimum AIR-2 Genie parameters against Soviet bombers coming over the top.

@Luredreier When Saab showed Finland the Gripen E's true capabilities, it came in dead last in H-X. Super Hornet came in 2nd place below the threshold requirements, at 3.81 out of 5. H-X was 7 years long.

@BertoxolusThePuzzled MADL is orders of magnitude more foolproof than critics realize. Every stage of sensor-collection is cross-checked against other onboard sensors, as well as off board fused pictures. It’s effectively fool-proof and decoy-proof, let alone hack-proof.

Let’s look at MMHPFH for starters, totally opposite of what you stated: F-14A/B/D 40-72hrs F/A-18C 27.14 - 28.48 F/A-18E/F 14.5 - 19.1 F-16C/CM 9.1 - 19.3 (None of the above include FLIR pods, ECM Pods, TARPS, ATFLIR, or HTS pods.) F-35A 4.7 - 6.01 F-35B 7.48 - 8.23 F-35C 5.1 - 7.81 (All of these include the integrated EOTS FLIR, EW system, DAS cameras, AESA Radar, and everything contained in the JSF airframe/propulsion/sensor/avionics/E&E systems.) MMHPFH is another area where you see how revolutionary JSF is. The fact that the F-35B requires far less maintenance than the F-16 even tells you how far we’ve come.

@sargon4451 Your information is retarded. F-35s are flying all over the world at higher availability rates than all legacy fighters, including new Super Hornets. F-35B has way higher readiness rate than the stripped Super Hornet or F-16 even. Source: DoD readiness rates, CBO, foreign operators

@EmperorLionflame Howya been? Did you know F-35Cs have the highest trap rate of any carrier-borne fighter in history? It's so great at trapping, that they used its Delta Path FLCS to upgrade Super Hornets. First 10 years of operational deployments with F-14As saw 73 total losses and well over 20 fatalities. F/A-18? 97 total losses, 20+ fatalities. F-35C? 1 total loss, 0 fatalities (been flying since 2010, in the fleet since mid teens, IOC 2019).

It takes a long time to develop these types of technologies. It also takes time, resources, and know-how to make the production facilities to be able to make them in numbers. If China doesn't have access to these technologies, how will they innovate? Remember, these are thieves who still haven't demonstrated reliable 4th generation engine technology.

They did their trials on Nimitz. What makes you think other carriers can't deploy it? I've seen this argument before and recall it being debunked.

F-35C can carry 2x JASSM stealth cruise missiles, 8 SDB guide bombs, 2x AIM-120s, 2x AIM-9X and still be VLO, separate the JASSMs before going near the MEZ, penetrate the MEZ and do D-SEAD on them, while conducting ISR for Tomahawk strikes. They all work together. Some of those SDBs can be decoys as well.

@EmperorLionflame F-35 in any configuration does not fly like a brick, and cruises, climbs, out-accelerates, and out-reaches any Super Bug. First thing Super Hornet pilots say is that it feels like a turbocharged Shornet. Flies higher with superior handling across the regime, way more internal fuel.

@EmperorLionflame F-35s have been raping F-16Cs in BFM for years. We're not still talking about LRIP 1 AF-2 from 2007, are we? AF-2 was never produced. The first 6 LRIP birds never were allowed past go. All were redesigned after SWAT back to mostly what L-M wanted to do, using CF structures. You can immediately tell the first 6 LRIP birds by their test pitot tubes and single nose gear doors, plus the paint. F-35s fly more like an F-15C high altitude profile above the cons and do very well up there at .85-.9 Mach. F-35A out-accelerates the F-16C Block 50 and F-22A in subsonic regime, but not supersonic. @EmperorLionflame Typhoon still doesn't have CAPTOR-E though, which is only a fraction of APG-81. UK just made a larger order to bring their F-35B fleet to 74, not departing from the 148 program of record. Typhoon pilots say they get used like pons by F-35s working jointly.

The critical and very clear technological differences between the generations start with propulsion. After that you look at structures, avionics, sensors, weapons employment, man machine interface, materials science, and performance. 5th Gen introduced Very Low Observability, high fuel fraction, and LPI networked connectivity with sensor fusion. For 6th Gen, start with propulsion and look at what P&W and GE have been working on. The US defines the generations with huge investments in RDT&E, amd re-tooling manufacturing lines to produce the new technologies. Just looking at propulsion, the US is without peer. If you doubt this, understand that the 4 ATF Prototype Air Vehicles had 4 different types of 5th Gen engines available.......in 1991. Other countries still have not demonstrated late 1980s 4th Gen IPE motor performance and durability.
