It just breaks my heart to see that father and his ever so cute daughter Ariana killed in this accident. This brought tears to my eyes seeing their picture. RIP to all the victims.

Hippos can run at 25mph for a short distince and in the water forget about it. You're done as soon as he sees you.
13
@Stewmade64. If you can't handle the news reports then stop watching it. It's that simple!
11
Get a clue already. As the richest country in the world we can do both sending aid to foreign countries while also helping people in this country in their time of need. Foreign aid and helping Americans in times of disaster are two completely different funding sources!!

This is the kind of news video that people can get the wrong message from. It talks about cloud seeding providing 3-15 % increase in precipitation, but this report gives no indication how much of an improvement the southwest has received from cloud seeding. That 3-15 % is the POTENTIAL improvement which is very different from what we actually are seeing. And after talking about this potential improvement in precipitation and how much cloud seeding is going on throughout the west the report goes on to say that "then mother nature delivered" as if to say that the cloud seeding that had been going was the result of this massive increase in precipitation. But correlation is NOT causation and there is no way to attribute that increase in precipitation in cloud seeding despite what many might say with zero evidence. So once again this a misleading story about cloud seeding because if the misleading impression it gives.

Those four children who were swept away by the storm was particularly sad to me. I can't imagine the pain those parents are going through. Bless them all, both those who passed on and the living who will struggle to put their lives back together.
9
Wow really?? What is the connection between cloud seeding and EF 3 or stronger tornadoes or any tornadoes?? How about none! A basic class in the weather would teach you that!!
8
This is a basic news report indicating the potential hazards from this coming storm. Better to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. If hearing these news reports scares you so much then stop watching them. jeez
8
@arupt1856 Look at one of the strongest weight lifters ever. There was a Russian weight lifter named Valerie Alexiev who could clean and jerk over 500 pounds. He was the strongest around for a while, but if you looked at him he appeared very fat at not so muscular. Appearances are deceiving!
8
@Tabletaccount apparently likes to jump to completely unsubstantiated explanations which do one any good ever! Why not just withhold your uninformed opinion and let health authorities deal with this?? After all it was just announced so why jump to some wild speculation??
8
@All Noyz. How about stop making noise and start using common sense. Thank goodness you have nothIng to do with community health and protecting the vulnerable in the community from getting covid 19. There are still many seniors and those with preconditions who have yet to be vaccinated.
8
Only a legend to the gullible!!
7
More like alerting any viewers who could be impacted that this dam could fail. The same people who criticizes a news report like this also would be the first to complain if the dam collapsed and there was no news alert or if it just wasn't emphatic enough
7
And when the cases spike again and more people are dying are you going that's the price of freedom or some caulous statement?? Just curious.
7
@bobjhonson1963 Cudos to you for that comment. 👍👍 Outsiders often overlook the circumstances poor people live with.
6
More like practical. The last major TB outbreak was in the 50's so when vaccinate every kid on the remote chance of an outbreak? Besides there is effective treatment available for TB when it is caught early. Other infections like measles are more of a threat to children hence the need to vaccinate all kids.
6
@jerryw6699 That's either bad sarcasm or you really are confused. Most of the states in the plains and the south ARE in red states and that's where tornadoes hit the most often.
6
The sun is taken into account in climate models because that is where the long term effects take place. Meteorologists generally focus on the weather which can be influenced by climate change causing more severe storm activity as in the case of hurricane Otis. Climate change warms the atmosphere which in turns warms the ocean. And a warmer ocean is more conducive to stronger hurricanes.
6
@Kevin. Did you really expect to get all of your questions answered from one video four minutes long?? You really have to watch many videos regularly if you expect to keep up with whats going on because this story is changing constantly!
6
Fun fact for today: Human activity produces up to 100 times as much CO2 as all volcanoes erupting in a given year. Keep in mind that volcanic eruptions are usually brief where as people are producing CO2 24/7 year round.

Regardless of the cause Mary the fires that are occuring here in Maui, in Canada and around the world are on another level. Climate change is intensifying drought, higher temperatures and high winds all which make these fires explode with ferocity unknown a couple decades ago. There fewer and fewer places in the world that aren't vulnerable to sudden outbreaks like this. And that is precisely why the world needs to come together to address climate change at the level of going into a world war.

Flu season is in the late fall through early spring which is in the southern hemisphere right now.
5
That wasn't about the supervisor, but hospital management which directed the sup to make that demand on the staff.
5
At least 90% of hospitalized patients with covid are unvaccinated. And kids under 12 have no choice because there is no vaccine for them yet.
5
@Stel K. The cases in Texas are up in fact just not as much as in many other states. And it was only a couple weeks ago that Texas opened to 100% activity with masks optional so there is the expected delay in cases rising.
5
It's good that there are people who are willing to go to extremes in the interest of science. But just looking at how confining that space was that he was crawling through brought up my claustrophobia!
5
@Gina Macdonald. So you believe the big lie then. The lie that Trump won has already been debunked repeatedly like the 60 some lawsuits by Trump lawyers never proved anything. In fact one of those "lawyers" Sidney Powell actually recanted and said it was all a joke and no one should believe that the claim to a stolen election was genuine.
5
When the Dr Fauchi states that hospitalizations are down I believe him because it isn't just him saying that, but also all the hospitals who collected the data. That alone has a lot more credibility then some folks who don't follow the statistics. Besides that you have zero evidence to support your wild guess.
5
Yeah, sure you sound like another armchair expert on what's going on!?!? 🙄

I have heard this virus is mutating very slowly, but the bottom line is that no one can predict how this virus will change in the future. Uncertainty is the norm.
4
Yes it is concerning how many commenters are so naive about the reality of this virus. Some people just have to learn the hard way, but it is sad when they take others down in the process.
4
@Jimmy-bb3og Many people live perilous lives in Africa just taking care of basic needs like going to the river for water where they can be attacked by crocs or hippos. Many people in developed countries have no idea of the many risks that people in developing countries take just to take care of the basic needs.
4
You are confusing passionate about doing her job with giddiness!?!? This is not hard. And by the way the news media is a direct reflection of the people who watch it and comment so it pays to be mindful about what you say. Negative disparaging comments have no place in any context!!
4
@s197gtcs4 Nice going skippy! Your comment is completely meaningless to everyone, but you because you don't state where you are!?
4
There have been many, many miracles with the people rescued from under the rubble of these collapsed buildings.
4
@RobertSmith-kj6eb John appears to have left the scene. But the answer to your question is climate change. It was predicted some time ago that the warming climate would lead to an increasing frequency and intensity of drought, heat waves and floods and also wild fires. Drought and heat waves greatly increase the likelihood of more intense fires. A good example is New Mexico this year. We have had worsening drought over the last twenty years culminating in the worst drought this year. This set the stage for our worst fire season on record. On top of that for a brief time this month the Rio Grande stopped flowing through Albuquerque for the first time in 40 years. Fortunately heavy rains came and have revived the river recently. But the trend is to warmer and drier. Now they are talking not just prolonged drought, but aridification or desertification.
4
@mark johnson Try to learn what it means to be relevant.
4
@seb 8969. It's been in the US for weeks!! Where have you been?
4
That "condition" is hardly one that constrains Israel in any way as to its aggressive policy toward the Palistinian territories so in that sense it is a moot point. Otherwise you comment is spot on especially in how it enriches the military industrial complex.
4
It had to be a hell of wind to uproot that big tree at the end of the report.
4
Oh, great let's add hysteria and paranoia to this infection problem!? When did that ever help anything?
4
Watch a few dozen more videos on this coronavirus outbreak and maybe you'll get some perspective.
3
@lauren elohim. Because Texas started this impatient desire to reopen and other states followed.
3
@Mark Raymond. You haven't looked at the data lately have you? I watch the data frequently and just like in Europe where many countries are seeing a spike in cases because they reopened too soon so too is the US. A couple three weeks ago the number of cases was in the 40,000's. Now the daily cases are up over 60,000. Nothing stable about that!!
3
That has to be extreme sarcasm about the fish tank hobby. 🙄
3
This storm was far worse than anyone expected. There were people on Pinellas County West of Tampa that was 100 miles from the eye of Helene and yet the storm surge devastated the coast. And the flooding north of Florida was especially bad from Helene because it followed heavy rain that saturated the ground. Flooding in NC, SC, GE AND TN was far worse than anything residents had experienced before.
3
You are reading too much into this. They didn't say those reduction in hoapitalizations were ICU patients on ventilators. Usually people coming into the hospital don't go on ventilators right away. Less people hospitalized means less will go on ventilators.
3
Believe what you want. But without good reasoning and evidence you have little justication to doubt him. If you mistrust the media however, then why bother watching the news anyway??
3
They do dumb ass. Why do you even bother commenting when you really don't care what goes on in South Chicago??
3
Hardly innovative and not as effective as this report may mislead people to believe. After taking about the wide spread use of cloud seeding in the west the report proceeds to say "then mother delivered" as if there was a correlation between cloud seeding and that massive precipitation last winter. Except there is not nor was there ever a clear correlation between cloud seeding and heavy precipitation.
