Yeah, I kept on thinking that things needed to be preserved, then I realized that we had already lost too much.
1
What about the experts you mention? Do THEY line up with MY values? I trust Trump more than people who hide in the shadows to avoid accountability.
1
I prefer that the economists don't try to find a way to tax me for the things that I do when I am not at work and not buying something.
1
The obesity epidemic didn't exist 25 years ago. If anything we have allowed ourselves to fail far more than we used too. How can there be more perfectionism when the majority is vastly less perfect than before?
1
I don't blame fish for living in the water, but I don't date them either. Your body your choice, my body my choice.
1
All of the girls I have fallen in love with were outliers. The norm is undesirable.
1
A person who can freely change the continent they are on and skips through several countries is NOT a refugee. Go ahead and count them as refugees, then I say we need to stop helping refugees. Broaden the term too much, and people will oppose helping them. I advise you stick to the original meaning of the word, someone who is in life threatening need of refuge, not someone who can freely hop from country to country.
1
Mix this with Deep Fake to create horrible consequences. I won't mention who controls Hollywood and the money driving this technology, or their lack of devotion to the citizens of your country or mine....
1
@liamjohnson8000 like on YouTube? Check out Yale, MIT, and Khan academy. A whole lot of high quality education out there accessible to anyone with internet access.
1
I don't think that diversity is preserved by people living next to diverse people. Diversity is created by clean borders and people who DON'T learn diversity but rather travel to see it and then learn. The fact that you and me are different is diverse, the more similar we are and the better we get along, the less diverse we are.
1
I am still under the solid belief that the most patriotic thing a US citizen can do is to violently resist and succeed from a tyrannical government. That is the foundation of what our government is, how it was born, and what it has stood for.
1
@prestooooo12 Just American. Any country that won't let Americans in, really just won't let in Americans that are too poor. They wouldn't lock out Bill Gates though.
1
I hope AI can learn how to make new realistic looking faces to use with this and nerds make awesome movies with it.
1
I hope I live to see it actually happen.
1
Too much social justice warrior theme in schools is hurting our society.
1
Doesn't matter if 99.9% of everyone opposed it, it would still happen. At least this guy is kind enough to warn you that it exists.
1
Pixel Fyxe, They seem to oppose genocide and paper cuts.
1
That is what the actual white privileged patriarchy looks like. White privilege requires wealth and leadership to really exploit the people.
1
@ritasjourney they can take responsibility for their own history rather than trying to blame it on me. My ancestors were among the groups they exploited and oppressed.
1
Climate change is aggravated by humans. It is caused by the atmosphere, and movement of the earth along with energy given off by the sun.
1
Many people are prevented from doing so by having their motivations banned. You can't be your best self when society is stomping you down.
1
How they going to get everyone? I hope quantum computing cracks all the secrets then shares it all publicly, so that fear tactics can't be used to quiet people up when the masses are in general agreement. I look forward to the day that everyone realizes that they all have the same secrets.

You are not born with your IQ in the same way that boys are not born with facial hair. But it is still the genetic traits passed on by your parents that leave you with a high IQ or lots of facial hair. It just takes time to grow into a point of development where high IQ or lots of facial hair occurs. Your statement of not being born with it is misleading. Genetics play the primary role in high IQ. IQ does change over time, and mostly this is genetic as well, such as people being genetically predisposed to dementia. Competent school systems can only do so much. The very high success people were born naturally bright on top of having competent school systems. You need both if you want to be one of the best.
1
@Arcanineisthebest Twin studies show that you are wrong. Your IQ is your genetic legacy, schools and environment play a MUCH smaller role than your parents do. Not your parents raising you either, its the genes they passed to you that matter most by far. Go look at the twin studies and the adoption studies on IQ. You are simply wrong. Genes matter most.

@paolaalexandra483 the black pavement roads collect and store heat thus accelerating climate change. This is a causitive effect, it is not up for debate. Its a fact, your denial doesn't change that. How much we accelerate change vs the natural rate does not have a consensus, but the FACT that humans alter the climate is not disputed in any half educated circle that understands even basic concepts such as heat transfer and causation. What people DON'T like to talk about is that literally every moving object has an effect on altering climate. Ant made climate change is a fact. Bird made climate change is a fact.
1
@paolaalexandra483 taxation is membership dues for citizenship to the country. Don't like them, join another country. But that is just taxes. I don't believe that taxes will solve climate change. Instead we need to encourage the public to adopt individual actions that help solve climate change. We could stop importing immigrants from countries that have very small greenhouse footprints into countries that have very large greenhouse footprints. We could move manufacturing from unregulated or poorly regulated to more tightly regulated countries, perhaps offering tax breaks in order to offset the additional expense of the movement. We could encourage people to buy local made goods so as to avoid the pollution created by international shipping. Made in America is green, and we should have products that are made here in our country labeled as such.
1
@paolaalexandra483 look for potholer54's videos on a conservative approach to climate change. He is pro-capitalism and wants to fight climate change. He offers profitable solutions as the best way to address climate change.
1
@kibun1 you'll never make it back to Kevin Bacon.
1
@patpat5135 Maybe so, but Greta wasn't mentioning that part now was she?
1
There is a social contract. There is a choice, but the choice is contingent. There is a social contract. Many people are in need.
1
As for drugs and hedonism, I am in support of legalization and regulation of nearly all drugs. I think the idea that recreational drugs are bad is a stupid idea.
1
I agree with her, we need more justice for gendered violence. How many corrupt attorneys and judges use gendered violence against men in family court? Those judges and attorneys should be sitting in prison for that! How many doctors mutilate the genitals of boys but not girls? This gendered violence needs to be stopped! How many feminists utilize hate speech against men on a near daily basis, even on TED talks? These women need to be imprisoned for their gender violence.
1
Not so long ago, racism was the norm and tolerance was used to empower the oppressed minorities so that they could seek equality. In many places attacking tolerance is supporting racism. The minority should have the right to equal access and the majority should have the right to be upset about it.
1
The illusion has faded. Those with little to lose have more to gain then those with a lot to lose. Wealth inequality places a burden on the wealthy, find a way or perish.
1
Does anybody honestly believe that this won't be weaponized in the future?
1
@Anu-hi9jh lol you misunderstood him. He started at 15 and smoked until he was 32.
1
@thegroove2000 Yes and the infrastructure from decades ago was built for weather patterns of decades ago. We need to come up with some type of mobile infrastructure. That would be actually addressing the issue. Also it wasn't man made climate change that is altering climate on the other planets in the solar system.
1
So the Chinese versions of Twitter, and Facebook will have just as much censorship as the real things?
1
Cattle are fed antibiotics because soy is not a natural food for cows. They get terrible infections of the digestive system when fed corn and soy. Grass fed cows don't need antibiotics. Thank Monsanto for overuse of antibiotics.
1
I like it when girls wear blue jeans and black batman t-shirts. I care.
1
Go find some people who haven't been indoctrinated yet, go help to organize a private church group into a rotating series of home schools so that their children are protected from the indoctrination. She didn't say you have to help group X, she said that you will become a happier person if you help people. She didn't choose the people, you can do that.
1
@doccomeau2770 "I also donate to charity at least once every month, but I do it my way." That is all I was getting at. I bet you get a sense of happiness when you do it. Keep on doing you, it sounds to me like you are a decent person who is used to being attacked. I am not trying to attack you. I personally believe that the organization, UNICEF, that she mentioned is an evil organization used for neoliberal attacks on other countries and cultures and I would never support that organization. So I have to agree with you on that part. I believe the presenter was getting at the heart that charity given in your way is the kind that makes you feel better. And I am not saying that people have to give, or that they should. Everyone has to judge for themselves if they are in a position to do so. If you don't help yourself, then you won't have the ability to help others. When I say "you" there I am talking about other people reading this, not you personally. I don't know you, I can't judge you, any assumption I made about you would be just an assumption.
1
What about the part where big corporations beam advertisements into your thoughts, or use knowledge of how the brain works in order to control consumer behavior? Does anyone think that would not happen?
1
I care the wrong way. Things are looking pretty good right now. My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.
1
So you killed comedy? But why? Speaking as a veteran of two wars, and a sexual abuse survivor. If you can't learn to laugh at your own trauma, then you can't get over it. Thems the breaks. Although cognitive behavioral therapy does encourage you to share your experiences, the narrative framing is more about other people and less about yourself. People follow simple motivations, your paranoia will continue until you learn to narrate reasonable motivations for people rather than menacing narratives for them. Sometimes you will be wrong, but most often you will be right. You got to question your own narrative of other people. Most people are self interested and generally kind at a superficial level. I recommend sharing your experiences with someone that you are emotionally invested in, rather than a crowd of strangers that you can easily push away. Also write them down, and write them down until you don't have nightmares so frequently anymore.
1
Go look at Honduras yourself. Know why there is so much gang violence there? Cocaine. Its all about Cocaine going to the US. End the drug war here, end the gang violence here. The same corporations that push for the war on drugs here are also pushing for immigration of cheap labor, surprise surprise.
1
Its obvious that humans alter the climate. The real question is would global warming still be an existential threat to most life on earth even if humans had 0 impact on climate? And the answer is "most likely, and given enough time assuredly".
1
I see more promotion with the Streisand Effect than any type of benefit gained by censoring wrongthink. Censorship cannot fix polarization as it pushes some people out of the conversation. Those people stop listening, they become polarized.
1
Looking at 2000 years of history of something that has been going on for over 3 billion years is cherry picking. Look at the last 3 billion years of climate to get a more accurate picture.
1
I hope it becomes cheap enough, and some type of voice thing gets added to it, so that basement dwelling social withdrawals make the best video games. If you can't tell truth from fiction and this is destroying the world, might as well immerse yourself in pleasant realistic fiction.
