  1.  @hus390  These are elected officials...punishments should be MORE severe for them then for average person...public puts their trust into these "leaders" and when they violate that trust, they should face harsh penalties, which would also help deter other leaders from playing fast and loose with public monies and trust. As it is now, all they get is a wrist slap and "please don't commit another crime" speech.

People got their feathers ruffled when Trump said contradictory things, but when Mayor Aunt Jemima says BS, nobody steps up. If they do investigation of this crook, I'm certain there is more questionable activity that just this...during her initial run for 1st term, they found she was using council credit card for personal use, and then found that she was not paying property taxes...these surely more skeletons in her closet.

She is lame duck mayor...she basically has no incentive now to do anything positive or that will require her to accept her mistakes, take responsibility for her incompetence, and WORK toward fixing the problems that she has allowed to cripple this city. Statistics say that the city is experiencing the worst crime wave since the 90's, but this fool continues to deny that these are facts, not opinions. Citizens should have not allowed her to serve a 2nd term.

  18. No surprise that Cantrell is opposed to suspending collection of fees for services that are not being provided. Right up her alley...charge people for services that they don't get...SWBNO, pay for water and drainage you don't get, pay for trash collection that doesn't happen.   If she was a leader, she would hold back payment on the contractor, or cancel their contract for breach, and award it to a more responsive and available waste collection company. Very poor leadership, unfortunately she will probably get reelected. Wake up New Orleans.

  25.  @billjenkins2503  This kind of stuff doesn't happen in Old Metaire because, that area is in Jefferson Parish. JP is tough on crime, they prosecute all criminal cases, and make sure criminals know it. Orleans is just a revolving door, which is why things have gotten so out of control.

If you look at his history, over 70% of people who appeal their valuation , get a reduction. This indicates that his property valuations are over 70% inaccurate, which tells anyone with a brain that he is just throwing numbers at a wall to see if they stick.

  47. Archdiocese is just another spin on organized crime. They manipulate their followers, have billions in real assets, and exert control over city leadership with their leverage and power. They filed bankruptcy a few years ago to avoid paying on claims from the adults who were abused as children in their flock...but financially they are nowhere close to meeting definition of bankrupt, however judicial system caved in to their demand. They are guilty and should be held to pay for their lack of oversight of their sick and demented priests and other leaders who abused these young children...force them to liquidate all their assets and pay out.
