ASUS RT-AXE7800 or something similar, preferrably. Key feature: Tri-Band 6GHz Wifi 6E. The E is important. Alternatively, Wifi 7 will also do, but it MUST be 6GHz AND feature Tri-Band.
To e fair, I still have to upgrade to that and am running a Speedport Smart 1 from around 2015 as AP (in fact, multiple, 'cos they're very inexpensive to get used and retail price was just 120€ if you bought them instead of renting) that only does Wifi 5, so basically the good old 5GHz 866MBit/s treat. If it's in the same room, ideally with LOS and everything is wired up nicely with GBE infrastructure and Cat 5e cables, that will be running well enough already and 120+ MBit/s in Virtual Desktop should be possible without issues (which is what it is for me). BTW that's an ISP router in Germany from the Telekom (you guys may know them as T-Mobile, same company).
Wifi 6 brings slightly better latencies, 6E then allows for better bitrates while lowering the latencies even more. With that, you can do 400MBit/s or more under good conditions.
I'm using Virtual Desktop exclusively. It's the best way to do anything PCVR with any of the Quest headsets. Been doing that for 5 years now, starting with the first headset.
