  45.  @abdullahabdulrahman5370  It is kind of you to explain your viewpoint. Thank you. As of generational difference, as I explained, my nieces and nephews have successful marriages also. You are correct in stating that many people do not abide by their own religion's teachings. Here in the West, however, this is a personal decision, and cannot be legislated. That being said, there are many sects of Christians, Jews, etc. that follow a stricter code of conduct than others (unfortunately, our national media is VERY liberal) and reports on religion only when it is bad. Despite what media tells, 80% of people in America believe in God, (each religion as they dictate). We live in relative harmony (of course there are religious arguments, and it is not wise and even considered rude to push your religious views on others). But my point being, it is harmful to the public and religion to force a person to remain in a marriage that they deem abusive or miserable. I think marriage counseling is useful. Yes divorce is much too common here, but frequently, that is a result of poor parenting and children being brought up to feel entitled to certain things. I have heard it said of marriage, each side should give 50% to the marriage. I was taught, each side should give 100%. If the courts wish to decide which marriage is worthy to get a divorce, then they should inspect thoroughly to make sure that all parties perform in the marriage as they should. Personally, I prefer to let my husband and myself decide what happens in our marriage and decide what measures should be taken. Each spouse should respect the other. But to do this, each side must have respect for one another and an equal say.
