To the people in the comments saying "I didn't want to see this": the fact you clicked on the video literally proves otherwise.
101
To those wishing they saved the antelope: you realise the hyena is a wild predator that needs to eat, as well, right?
59
@Indigenous_Rambo Good thing my name isn't "everyone", then.
32
@LionDominator Considering how unpopular hyenas are with most people, I'd say they're underated.
22
@AaronKirk Nature isn't sadistic. Nature is what it is. Everything in nature has a purpose.
14
@idontcarelol2170 No animal is "evil". It's not "evil" to try and survive, otherwise all animals would be "evil".
12
james challenger Hyenas are Hyaenidae, not Canidae.
12
Let's see how many comments from people who think animals have human Morals (which they don't) show up.
12
Which is ironic, since they hunt more than they scavenge.
11
This is a wild animal, not a domestic dog.
10
They're the second-largest predator in Africa after lions.
9
Can you please not apply human morals onto other animals?
9
Never interfere with nature
8
@ashokankala802 No more or less ""cruel" than any other predator out there. Also, word of advice: don't apply human morals onto other animals. Nothing "cruel" about trying to survive.
8
@SHARK-EATINGCAT Nope, I'm not. Just seen several comments on hyena videos on this channel claiming that hyenas are "evil" or "cruel", which is applying human morals onto them.
8
1: hyenas are NOT dogs 2: they are no more or less dirty than any other animal out there.
7
Are you complaining about people... experiencing nature? You ARE familiar with the whole concept of safaris, right?
7
@donniev8181 Why do you think scientists have been studying it for the past few hundred years?
7
They can't exactly go to the grocery store, now.
7
@roiq5263 Spotted hyenas hunt more often than they scavenge (they hunt around 50-95% of their food). Plus, it is actually far more common for lions to steal from hyenas than it is for hyenas to steal from lions. Most of those videos you see of hyenas trying to "take" a kill from lions are more than likely the hyenas trying to claim back a kill they, themselves, made rather than stealing a lion's kill.
7
Literally EVERY predator on Earth both hunts and scavenges. In fact, with spotted hyenas: they actually hunt around 50-95% of their prey.
7
@ludvugblood-axe3071 I wouldn't call hunting 50-95% of your own food 'mostly scavenging", really. Also, lions steal from them (hyenas) more often than the other way around.
7
This is nature, humans aren’t responsible for what’s happening here. What you’re doing is called anthropomorphising.
7
Hyenas hunt more than they scavenge.
7
Probably "I'm hungry. I need to eat quickly before a lion tries to steal my food".
6
This is the wild, not a zoo.
6
No animal is a "coward", they only do what is neccessary to survive.
6
Not their fault wild dogs need to eat.
6
No more dangerous than living near other humans. In fact, living near wild animals is probably safer since they won't try and kill you without reason.
6
@KayZee82965 Not sure how "removing the competition" counts as "malice".
6
@KayZee82965 Stop putting human Morals onto wild animals. Believe it or not, wild animals aren't humans.
6
@donniev8181 "There has never been one piece of scientific proof that proves evolution" Umm... DNA?
6
@Yeshua_Our_God_Reigns Ah, yes: allowing animals to eat is sadistic.
6
@theinfamous47 Because I stated the truth?
6
@erictyson5947 They have adorable cubs They're highly intelligent They play a vital role in nature They're fun to watch, often, especially when they're playing They have an interesting social structure Those round ears The fact they are very good and successful hunters The fact the moms are highly devoted to their cubs, nursing them for ul to two years (not non-stop, of course)
6
Half the comments: "Tha camera-man is so cruel. Why is he just sitting/filming it?" Maybe because that's the whole point of going on a safari? To observe the animals in their natural habitat?
6
Because they’re trying to survive?
6
They're actually very intelligent animals.
6
The hyena needs to eat, you know. By scaring it away, you'd be depriving it of a meal.
6
Why do you want an animal to starve?
5
How would you like it if someone took your food away from you?
5
@donniev8181 "The religion of evolution is nonsense and unscientific" Not sure how it's unscientific when it's literally being researched pretty much all the time by SCIENTISTS.
5
@donniev8181 Well, just ask all the scientists, then.
5
@hamzaajakkaf7523 Do you really think we, as a species, were here when life first began? You know that there have been skeletal/fossil remains found of hour early ancestors (which was a species of ape, much like we are), right?
5
And get arrested for killing an endangered species.
5
I'm pretty sure we have no say over what happens in nature. I'm quite certain sin wasn't responsible in making animals try and survive.
5
@iskaykabeya609 Dude, I follow science rather than religion. And to answer you question: whatever nature intended them to eat. Without carnivores, the herbivore species would overpopulate, which would cause a lot of damage to the ecosystem.
5
For those who are hating on the hyenas for taking food from the leopard: it's literally trying to survive. By that logic, you should be hating all animals, as they're all just trying to survive. And besides, it's just as easy for the inverse to have happened (I.E. the hyena making the kill, then the leopard takes the kill from the hyena), would you then be hating the leopard?
5
tyson "everybody hates hyenas". Umm, I think Kim Wolhuter, Kevin Richardson and every hyena lover/researcher out there would beg to differ. And besides: have you not read my username?
5
Pretty sure nature doesn't care about "humane", tbh, considering nature doesn't have morals.
