  5.  @tonioceros  I know technically you can, but that won't make you part of the country in the eyes of many of the natives. To give a rather extreme but real example, if I took Japanese citizenship, after renouncing my own, I would technically be Japanese. Would anyone, either in Japan or outside, consider me to be Japanese? Of course not. On a lesser scale, this is true in other countries. For example, it is quite common for Indians living overseas to renounce their citizenship to seek the nationality of other countries. I know Indians who have done this, but they don't for a second believe that they are anything other than Indian.

I'm old enough to remember the cold war, but even then when people spoke regularly of nuclear armaggedon, I did not feel that the world was at a dangerous point as I do today. The chances of a multinational hot war in Europe have now significantly increased and if it does, the USA will inevitably be dragged into it.

This means that the election is much more open to corruption, hence Trump's demand to "find" 11,000+ votes, or the greenbay sweep fraud. I am unaware of any suggestion that the French presidential election is more open to fraud.
