Sorry to say in order to hide their identity and rule they had to keep Tamils and Sinhalese busy and they had to act like Sinhala patriots, JR was first to say English should be replaced with Sinhala only while most politicians wanted Sinhala and Tamil, but Bandara Nayaka kicked JR in the ass, and campaigned he would make ceylon a Sinhala Buddhist Nation, just to win the election. After coming to power he brught the Sinhala only act., and eveyone knows what happened after.

  13. Prince Vijaya arrived around 2500 years ago, with around 700 followers from Kalinga. Then he married to a Tamil Vedar tribe woman called Kuveni, she belonged to Naga dynasty. Later Vijaya and his men got to have contacts with the Pandiya kingdom of South India, Vijaya and his men married Pandiya women. So basicly early Sinhalese were half Tamils, Tamils say Ammavoda/Appavoda and Sinhalese say Ammage/Appage just one example. Sinha+Hela became Sinhala.

The area army captured over 18 months the LTTE took back within a week killing over 3000 army.

  25. Later more immigrants came from south India and assimilated with the Sinhalese, some Tamils also became Sinhalese. Everything was going smooth till Thelunku Nayakar arrived in Kandy, they captured power from the Sinhala king and ruled till the British arrived, During British rule they all became Sinhalese, over 200 000 people. Later some of them became christians, became interpreters for the British, JR Jeyawardena and Bandara Naike belong to these ancestors.

Right leadership alone was not enough, Rajapakse said that himself, he said only China was willing to help financially. It's with their help the army was trippled from 100 000 to 300 000, before that Chandrika was struggling to pay the 100 000 army, even with help from world bank. If China didn't give you funds then you wouldn't have operated those mortars, artilleries, multi barrels. You wouldn't have bought those super sonic jets, with ukranian pliots, tanks, navy boats. So all help came with funds from world bank and China. On the other hand LTTE was weakened by Karuna, not only that he gave the army all the secrets and tactics of the LTTE. Further more most importantly LTTE's supply routes were cut off with the help of two super powers, so they had no supply of medicines or weapons, most they had were the machine guns. If you had fought them with the same weapons it's a different story for ur army.

  42. Thaatha, Appage, Ammage, Aiyaa, Akka, Sahothara, Uthavu (karana) these are few Tamil words given to Sinhala race by Paandiya mothers, Raathiri Aahara, rathiri a tamil word and aahara a sanskrit word, Sinhalese were Hindu Tamils before the Aamathuru came from Maurya Empire.

  44.  @aswinpatel1946  Due to that promise Bandara Nayaka had to bring the Sinhala only act, language issues kind of settled down later, but the 1958 riots weakened the unity, this is the view of many Sinhala intellectuals as well, Prabaharan also once said it's the 1958 that led him to choose the path he chose, still there was a man called Thanthai Selva who tried to settle things peacefully by talking with the Sinhala leaders, but he did not succeed.
