  29.  @TabalugaDragon  This is an adaptation. It doesn't matter what was in the original books. Adaptations don't need to be accurate, especially when it comes to an outdated portrayal of race. The books never specify the skin tone of every single character or race anyway. Pretty sure this series isn't even official canon since they couldn't get the rights to the books it's pulling from. Who cares what skin tone a fantasy race has, it could be literally anything. That's terrible reasoning for not having representation. You guys might have tried to claim and bastardize the word woke, but that isn't its modern meaning. It's a misuse of the word. You'll call literally anything female led woke. The definition of woke is : alert to injustice in society, especially racism. If a show isn't actually alert to injustice and just has some representation, then it isn't woke. You could maybe accuse it of being performativly woke, which is something we hate as well, but it isn't woke. She Hulk isn't woke just because she's a woman and her powers work good. Stop being a cringy bumper sticker, things that are actually woke are usually the best things.

The elves in the Lord of the rings were never explicitly white, they are only described as 'fair' which means beautiful in this context. You're wrong on that one bud. Jackson imagined all these characters as white so he made them white, it wasn't supported by the original text. People like you also imagined they were white, so you praise him for being book accurate even though he isn't. Which is weird, since Jackson changed so much else about his adaptation, but so long as there are no brown characters that aren't bad you guys don't kick up a fuss. There is no need to create a new fantasy show just for the sake of representation, but if they did, you guys would call it woke garbage. There is no logical reason for a lord of the rings adaptation to not have non white characters. If the original Alien and terminator movies came out today, you'd all call them woke and lose your minds. What you do and don't consider woke is entirely arbitrary.

You claim that if any of the characters weren't white then Tolkien would have explicitly stated it. If Tolkien thought all of his characters were white then surely he would have specified if that was important to him. It's really weird that you just assume that they all are despite a lack of character description confirming it. White isn't the default dude. You should learn what woke actually means and start trying to apply it to your life.
