I feel like the problem is that JP is trying to work out philosophical/religious/spiritual questions and Dawkins has no use for anything even remotely connected to spiritual/religious things so the questions aren't going anywhere. But the man has never done anything to show he distrusts people just because they're happy. Just listen to some of the stories of happy people after one of his lectures telling him how much he's helped them get their life in order, he about cries over it.

  10. I understand JBP's frustration... There is something fundamentally incoherent about Malice's viewpoint but he's skilled enough at rhetorical battle that it's hard to pin him down. I think it comes down to anarchy will never work because power will always accumulate with a certain person or group and eventually those people will be evil and control others. It's a law of nature. Once you realize anarchy is as unrealistic as the socialist utopia then you can have a real conversation.

  11. Really appreciated the question about masks. Just stop wearing them. Be true to the feeling inside that tells you no one should be making you cover your face. Period. For any reason. Fortunately, I live in Texas where things are more reasonable, but I simply don't go in stores that try to enforce mask wearing. I'd rather protect my right to control my own body rather than shop at any particular store.

You're on the right track with low carbs... Cut out carbs helps to relieve the immune system from constant activation which can help with all sorts of things like psoriatic, allergies, other autoimmune disorders as well as the obvious things like losing weight and preventing/reversing type 2 diabetes

I mean Australia basically turned into an authoritarian country where people are getting arrested or fined for simply leaving their house without permission. As if any law abiding citizen in a free country needs permission to leave the house, go to work, go out to eat, go about their lives as they see fit. You guys BECAME China and while it's obviously not the same thing, but Australia is most definitely not a FREE country at this point since if the citizens aren't free to go about their lives without constant interference from some govt force then they're not free.

I'm well aware lots of people disagree with his interpretation of some parts of the Bible .. but there's no reason to disagree other than people being close minded and having to admit that some random psychologist figured out meanings that "scholars" have missed. He doesn't say anything that's in conflict with Christian orthodoxy - he just gives additional meaning that can be considered and value pulled from it.

If ur right then it doesn’t matter if ur alone… I was alone in refusing to wear masks throughout the entire ordeal and I took plenty of derisive comments but it didn’t matter because I knew I was watching a test run of sorts and not an actual medical emergency that they were honestly trying to manage.

  36. If you're still wondering... Meta just means 'beyond' in a sense or a combination of many parts that is more complete or more true than any single part. Meta-physical would mean things 'beyond' the physical... Or the spiritual in other words. In the scientific world a meta-analysis is an analysis of a lot of other studies (which are, in themselves, analyses) which can summarize all of the data of each of the individual analyses to give one combined data set and conclusion that will give you a more complete and accurate picture of reality. Just like a meta-story is the synthesis of many individual stories that can give you more detail and truth than a single story alone. One more... Imagine taking 100 football games and extracting all of the best plays and then adding all those best plays together to make one amazing game. That game wouldn't be real, but it would be a symbol of a more perfect game than any of the single games. It would be a meta-game. Hope that helps.

  39.  @brianthom6798  ever heard of history? There's no such thing as a long term, fictional, anarchal society or group. Functional Anarchy is as much a pipedream as "equality"... As soon as the playing field is leveled some people will begin making money and good decisions and others will begin spending everything they have and wasting time, before long there will be rich and poor. Every tribe, every civilization has had a power structure of some sort, because, by default, there will be those with power and those without. The whole point is to try to design a system where no one person or group can accumulate or exercise that power over others (which means there is a structure to prevent that from happening). If u put 100 people on an island, in a matter of days some will emerge as leaders and if those people happen to be evil, they will take advantage. There has to be a system to protect everyone else.

The primary damage of junk food isn’t that it highjacks ur appetite, it’s that the body isn’t designed to intake/process those ultra processed foods. Overeating isn’t the only issue - which is why there are tons of people that aren’t overweight and appear healthy on the outside but still end up with heart attacks and strokes. If hormones and the complex machinery inside the human body didn’t exist then, yes, a calorie would be a calorie.

  48. @Erika Rouby yeah while many stores had people offering masks throughout the whole thing I just simply said no thanks and kept walking. Only had one store tell me I have to wear one, a high end outdoor/clothing store. I just told them I'll take my money somewhere else and went and bought what I was looking for from Bass Pro with no one whining about masks. It was really just the small businesses that hurt themselves around here because the large places didn't really do much about it.
