  1. I had a really Catholic biology teacher, too. On Wednesdays, he'd teach Confirmation to us at church. Never brought up religion in biology, though.

  2. Not from Hamtramck, but I live near a Somali settlement, and heard a commotion in the library study carrel behind me one day. I peeked over the top, thinking the guy was having a seizure, or something. Nope. He was just down on the carpet facing Mecca and salaaming away. Very energetic form of prayer.
