The Betty Crocker cookbook from 1956 is still my favorite cookbook. You just have to halve the salt in those recipes, and then you can season whichever way you want.

This! Salt, pepper, and butter are still my favorite condiments for a good steak. Especially after I quit smoking, and my nose and palate became very sharp. The problem with most prepared food is flippin' powdered garlic. I love garlic so much--but not in everything!

In my household, we just learned how to bake a proper English roast encrusted in salt, pepper, ground mustard and celery seed. It's so delicious I want to cry.

@violenceislife1987 i thought roux was the oil/flour, and the "holy trinity" was sautéed first in the butter, then set aside as the roux browned. Learned Creole cooking from my husband, who grew up in NOLA.

Oh, brother. I really am allergic to shrimp, and I will continue to ask if it is an ingredient. Let the waiter think I'm nuts.

I have a whole gallon of very hot kimchi fermenting away in my kitchen, and I'm quite white. Kimchi fried rice, here I come!

People are so funny! I love food hot enough to melt ear wax, yet it is bread and butter that gives me horrible heartburn.
