  2. I got offered one because I was a first responder--a "bag phone" for my car. I turned it down, because it cost $100/mo. (not cheap in 1989) and also, there were few cell towers, so the phone would have been useless except in a few spots in our response area.

  3. I remember in 2007 or 8 stopping with a friend at an Apple Store right after the iPhone 1.0 came out, and there was a line of people stretching out the door for almost a block, eager to snap them up. I had never seen such a line at any store, before.
