  2. Xer, here. Reagan was elected when I was a freshman in high school, and he represented dissidence/realignment. The clear majority of my cohort were for him and still seem to be conservative. It was not cool to be a hippy, then; we were well groomed, preppy, and trying pretty hard to be the antithesis of hippies. P.s. I cast my first vote for Fritz Mondale, but can not remember why.
