I remember getting our Angus heifers inseminated at $35 per straw about 20 years ago. At the time, I waa pregnant by an anonymous sperm donor for $225 per straw, so I found occasion to amuse myself commiserating with the cow and grousing about the price of human semen straws. Fast-forward 2 decades: my husband and I have a grown son, and the donor is no longer anonymous; turned out to be a guy named Chuck. Still feeling amused by it all.
