The regions of the south-east of Ukraine are inhabited by Russian people. In Crimea in 2014, 60% of the population was Russian. When our army began to seize the Crimea, the local people rejoiced and greeted our soldiers as liberators. People in Crimea have been waiting for 23 years for the moment when they will return home to Russia. In eastern Ukraine, 50% of the population is Russian and 50% Ukrainian. In the south of Ukraine, 30-40% of the population are Russians. Why did this war even start and why did we decide in 2014 to regain Crimea? You see, there was a coup d'état in Ukraine and the pro-Russian government was overthrown by pro-Western and anti-Russian politicians. Therefore, we were forced, we simply had no choice but to protect the Russian people in Crimea from the anti-Russian revolutionaries who had seized power in Kyiv. Russian people, citizens of Ukraine, went out in 2014 to protest against that coup d'etat and the overthrow of the pro-Russian president. By taking Crimea, we defended their right to self-determination. And the Ukrainian army agreed to voluntarily leave the Crimea. Ukrainian officers shook hands with our officers, 20 thousand Ukrainian soldiers left the Crimea without a fight. Because they knew that Crimea is Russian territory.

@vaataja In Crimea in 2014 and until 2014, 60% of the population were Russians, 24% Tatars and 16% Ukrainians. Russians in Crimea until 2014 were 60% of the population, and only 16% of Ukrainians. Crimea is an absolutely Russian territory, where the majority of the population is Russian, and Ukrainians are a minority of the population. It's just that Crimea, by mistake of the Soviet government, became part of Ukraine in 1954. But this is Russian territory. And in 2014, this Russian territory returned to its native harbor with the full support of the local population. And the Ukrainian army left the Crimea without a fight, giving it to our troops, which again proves that this is Russian territory. Because if it was Ukrainian land, the Ukrainians would not have given it away without firing a shot.

@Nilme_Achanduine What other prison? In Russia, practically no one is persecuted under articles that restrict freedom of speech. We do not have mass repressions. They can only detain some popular person, and then they give them time to leave the country and make hints. For example, Ilya Yashin, a liberal pro-Western politician, he has one and a half million subscribers on youtube. He was arrested by the police in June of this year. For more than three months since February 24, he calmly spread Western propaganda to the millions of people, and our police wanted him to simply leave Russia. But he did not want to leave Russia like all the other liberal traitors, he, like Navalny, proved that he was a patriot who did not leave the country, but went to prison.

@copy2886 Zhirinovsky was a court jester, a clown who spoke all sorts of nonsense. And no one wants and is not going to "capture all the countries of the former USSR." Russia is fighting against Ukraine because Ukraine was at war with Russian separatists in the southeast for 8 years from 2014 to 2022. Russia defends the right of the Russian people to self-determination. In fact, Russia is conducting a peacekeeping operation, the same one that NATO conducted in Kosovo in 1999. With regards to technology, products and trade, first of all, there is no merit of the West in this, because we earned money with our own labor in order to buy it all in the conditions of a global economy and a global distribution of labor. With regards to products, I can say that modern imported food products are chemicals that poison people, and in the USSR there were natural and tasty food products without chemical additives. With regards to technology, Russia is one of three countries in the world with its own space program, Russia provides itself with communications and telecommunications, and Russian services in space are in great demand in the world. On the ISS, half of the modules are Russian, and Russia is busy pushing this station so that it does not fall to the ground. Google was founded by Russian - Sergey Brin, and Apple in 1989 bought handwriting recognition technology from Soviet scientists. Russia is a leader in peaceful nuclear technologies.
