"...she's fifteen, she's too OLD for you!" - Sasha Baron Cohen at his best.
11
It remains to be seen if enough of the US justice system integrity remains to fight this off, after all the Trumpzis have only been systematically dismantling it for less than 3 years. Amazing how fast the dismantling has been going - but then again, the Republicans have been chipping away at it for decades. The judicial system apparently has been politicized to the extent that it might be unable to defend the US Constitution, given the current state of affairs.

Why is he trying to give Rudy good advice? Rudy & Trump have dug themselves a nice, deep hole and should be left alone to just keep digging...

AOC truly IS attractive to most living, breathing males of any age but, more important, she is intelligent, charismatic, consistent and has an incredible ability to get her points across without being offensive. She might use irony at times and humor at other times, but you never see her really throwing dirt at her detractors. She even might be the catalyst for genuine, long-term changes in US politics. Nothing wrong with admiring this girl from afar, is there?

Is it possible that Mueller does not actually NEED Cohen, that Cohen is such a crook that Mueller is not inclined to let him off the hook in any way?
2
I noticed that in this clip the word "allies" was only used once - the term "other nations" ruled. With Trump at the tiller the US has been shedding allies like there is no tomorrow, and most US Americans are coming to realize that. When (not if) Bolton and Pompeo manage to drag the US into a war with Iran, the only "allies" willing to participate will be the Saudis and Israel.
2
A bit of wishful thinking going on here, hoping there is a crack forming between rich donors and crooked politicians, but hey - it COULD be happening, to the benefit of US Americans everywhere!
2
The question should be "what does PILLAGE mean to MTG?". It is an old and well-defined concept, as are the more recent "woke" and "Critical Race Theory". Most extreme right-wingers (spelled Fascists) are bandying these concepts about while obviously not having a clue what they actually MEAN. Take "woke", for example: The accepted definitions are to the effect of "alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination" or "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination" or, very simplified, being open-minded. A rather laudable and noble state of mind to most people, but to Republican Fascists they are "bogeyman terms", concepts that are evil incarnate. What I find surprising is that no talking head or TV interviewer has ever bothered to ask these idiots how they define these words. It would be interesting to hear their understanding of the terms. I bet most of then have no clue, to them they are just ugly words, like the N-word is to any African-American.

Any nation that ignores it's less fortunate citizens is destined to fail - eventually. That is what happened to the USSR and the way things are going, it also appears to be the destiny of the USA.
2
There IS a very well documented case of the consequences of unacceptable inequality going on for too long: The French Revolution! There WILL be a breaking point that results in a lot of bloodshed - especially in a country already awash with military-style weapons. Who needs Guillotines?
2
I am REALLY glad that I am not a US citizen!

Prestwick was actually quite a common stopover point during piston-era airline operations (aircraft range and weather issues) during the middle of the last century. There actually might be a plausible reason for the US military to have used Prestwick as a stopover point on occasions - reasons the military should be happy to reveal if this is investigated. The increasing use of a luxury resort, owned by the current president really stinks, any way you look at it.
2
@Speedbird61 , I agree. The US military does have pre-Trump era service contracts with the Scottish government and apparently have used Prestwick OCCASIONALLY to their advantage. The sharp rise in stopovers since Trump took office stinks to high heaven and is probably just one example of what a grafter he is. The military is understandably between a rock and a hard place with a Commander-in-Chief like this. I would not be surprised to see all kinds of similar shady dealings surfacing after Trump is out of office.
2
But - didn't you know that being a "Trump-hater" disqualifies you from so much as criticizing Trump? At least, that is what the Trump crowd is telling us: If you dislike Trump, if you do not trust Trump, you are NOT allowed to try to nail him! Neat strategy, eh? Only, it is NOT going to work. Trump (and his associates) will rue the day he ran for president, because that is when he started being put under a microscope. His Presidential shenanigans aside, his past will not stand up under any kind of scrutiny.

In my country we are finding 1 case for every 120K citizens pr. day, and that is only because we have recently A) Opened our borders, B) We test EVERYONE entering our country at the cost of $65 a pop (it was free for the first 2 weeks). If you cannot afford the $65 you simply go into quarantine for 2 weeks. This might be interesting to other nations: We are finding that roughly one in every 666 passengers entering our country is infected, the rest is NOT (well, we are selective about who is allowed to enter, 'Muricans have a harder time than everyone else)! Our fortune is the fact that our politicians handed decision-making to the experts at the outset. The results can be seen in our stats up to the day our borders were opened: https://www.covid.is/data-old. The presentation was changed on June 15, when the borders were opened (see https://www.covid.is/data). Please bear in mind that our nation is tiny (only 360K, the US is almost 1000 times larger - but you have 5000 times the resources!). Bottom line: We are infinitely better off, we have things under control and we are bloody well monitoring everything. Any unexpected local outbreak WILL BE HANDLED without having to shut everything down. This is what the US could have done, had Trump not dismantled all the resources and institutions that previous presidents had put into place to prepare for just this kind of disaster. What Trump did can only be compared to dissolving the US Weather Service when the Tornado and Hurricane seasons are approaching! This is nothing less than criminal! I just cannot wait until he is out of office and he and his cronies can be treated as they deserve.

@revanamessengeramongmany , we NEVER get the fierce cold spells you get in Minnesota due to our maritime climate. Occasionally we get -18°C in the interior, but the temperature usually hovers around freezing along the coast during the height of winter. A day or two with -5°C is considered a cold spell.

Of course the investigators have to be investigated, once any doubt has been cast on their work. It does not matter if the doubt comes from Trump & associates, thrashing about in desperation, once doubt is cast it must be looked into. That is what transparency is all about. If, by any chance, the investigators do not have a clean slate, that should be made public as well. Only then can US voters make an informed decision about how to vote in 2020. I am convinced that Trump is terrible, the Republicans are terrible and so are the Corporate Democrats and their donors, so maybe the US is fucked anyway, but full transparency is the only credible way to go.
1
The stock market has little to do with the majority of US Americans. It rises and falls at a whim, anyway - after all investors are like a flock of frightened sheep. It takes very little to send them running.
1
Is it any wonder the US is falling apart at the seams? The current twisted and corrupt US political system managed to elect such a horrible psychopath to the highest office in the land and, incredibly, there is a sizeable portion of US voters stupid enough and delusional enough that they wanted to elect this lunatic AGAIN! The US is so flawed it appears to be beyond saving. I predict that the US will have devolved into a Mad-Max-like society within 20-30 years. The Preppers appear to be on to something!

Any "politician" that behaves like a toddler having a temper tantrum is bound to be disappointed when the general voting population wakes up to his shenanigans. The pandemic was NOT Trump's bad luck, it simply exposed what a hopeless leader he is. ANY sensible and early response might have resulted in the death toll being limited to 10-20K deaths, but Trump's neglect has resulted in over 110K fatalities so far, and the idiot has the gall to proclaim that the death toll would have been in the millions if not for his early and intelligent response to the pandemic - GOOD JOB! Who but the most retarded Repugnican is likely to believe this nonsense! The future of the US as a democratic republic hangs in the balance. In 5 months the world will know if Trump has succeeded in dismantling the US republic, at Putin's bidding, or if the US manages to overcome this disaster. Either way, Putin's goose is cooked: If he manages to have his puppet destroy the US, the consequences will be so painful that he will NEVER be forgiven, and if he fails the rest of the world will be wise to what a menace Putin is to world peace.
1
Trump's backers are realizing that they have flexed the bow to the point of breaking. It is beginning to snap and crackle and will break if flexed any further. If (or rather WHEN) it breaks, the backers are fucked, REALLY fucked!
1
The flight risk arguments are very valid, not to mention the risk of him trying to intimidate witnesses, but the outrage over the Epstein's lawyers arguing for a ankle bracelet & house arrest in his multi-million dollar mansion is a bit misplaced. Then man is apparently a monster but, in the unlikely case that he might be released on bail, the price of the place where he would stay is hardly relevant.
1
Wanna bet the Iranians will soon appear to do something incredibly stupid, giving Bolton an excuse to start a war? That would be a classic move, it's what Hitler did to have an excuse to invade Poland and start WW2. Try to Google "Bay of Tonkin" to find a US version of that to start the involvement in Vietnam.
1
What a slick business model in a land where "greed is GOOD"! No wonder the US is rushing down the drain...
1
Trump is simply a Putin tool - he is dismantling the institutions established by the Founding Fathers of the US and the alliances that kept the Soviet Union at bay. Now Putin and Russian organized crime are succeeding where the USSR failed.
1
Just imagine if ALL media outlets were to refuse political ads! That would be a giant step towards getting money out of politic (I believe this is actually done in many countries). To have this happen in the money-hungry US media environment would, however, be beyond miraculous...
1
To the US: You made your bed, now lie in it!
1
@nancystowell4877 , I agree - and we are all worried. I did not mean to ridicule the US nation and I apologize if my comment came across as such. Our best hope is that Trump's shenanigans motivates US voters to turn out in droves to elect someone sane. We in the Nordic countries may call ourselves social democrats, but what we actually have is welfare capitalism - and it works for us so we KNOW that even Bernie would be a huge improvement for you.
1
There are cetrain individuals that do NOT deserve any respect when they finally die. This one certainly deserves the disdain of every ordinary US American. One down, one to go - and let's hope their heirs do not turn out to be quite as horrible as they are/were.
1
When the rot has pervaded not only 1/3d of the politics but more than half of the gerrymander-elected State politicians AND the judiciary system if your country, you are staring into the face of oblivion! Will this end with a landslide, true-majority non-Repugnican defeat by record voter turnout, or will it end with a whimper, with a cheating Repugnican victory based on gerrymandering and voter apathy? Given the glaring fact that the lunatics have taken over the asylum in the US, a descent into fascism and autocracy is what most likely awaits the US population.
1
What the Trump "Prisoners" don't like is obvious fact that a massive majority of the US nation is rising up against the inequality, mismanagement and brutality Repugnicans have dished out to ordinary US Americans for decades. The can FEEL the earth tremble beneath their feet, they are beginning to realize that they have gone way too far and the entire house of cards (the con) is about to crash down around their ears. Not only are they about to lose their positions of privilege, power and wealth, they are probably about to be REALLY held accountable for their decades-long corruption and abuse of power, as in jail-time, heavy-fine accountable.
1
So Trump harassed Kellyanne Conway in front of others? What is surprising about that? We all know what an arsehole Trump is, no surprises there. There is little cause to defend Kellyanne Conway, she is no better than Trump himself.
1
I expect all the ongoing investigations into Pruitt's alleged ethics violations will NOT go away - or will they?
1
Voter suppression, INFORMATION suppression? The US reality-show-like political system is coming apart at the seams, and the smell ain't good!
1
...and this is the "Greatest Country in the World"?
1
If a corrupt AG wants to "investigate" this conspiracy theory, why not just let him? Are you afraid he will find something? He probably WILL find something, there are always some discrepancies to be found, usually minor but sometimes huge. In this case, whatever he might find will probably be peanuts compared to corrupt Trump administration is doing in plain sight every day - but there just MIGHT be something substantial as well. Corruption, ALL corruption should be exposed and rooted out!
1
Whoa! Potential kickbacks for Matt Gaetz, a politician, to pave the way for Medical marijuana? What's the big deal? The US is the only western country where open, in-plain-sight bribery of politicians is legal! Confirmed by the US Supreme Court! One wonders if that was one of the breaking points, where the rest of the world realized that the US democratic experiment was coming off the rails. The US is now like a high-speed rail accident happening in slow-motion...
1
What is so complex about treating Trump in the same way he himself tried to treat his opponents? Simply Lock Him Up if he is found guilty of the current indictments, just like any other US citizen that has been found guilty of crimes far less serious than the crimes Trump is suspected of doing. The Orange Monster should be held to a much higher standard than the average Joe.
1
It is just beginning - it will be interesting to see how the 'Murican version of Kristallnacht will manifest itself. The only thing we can be assured of, it will be nasty, mean and bloody (much like the female Bishop that dared to mention Christian Mercy to Toddler Trump).
1
One wonders what DeSantis's "Team" will be called when this becomes history - probably something related to the color of their outfit. Hitler's first goons were called Brownshirts, but later versions wore slick black uniforms and were called the SS. Nevertheless, the pattern of behavior is the same and the end result, if this is allowed to continue and mature, will be the same.
1
Isn't a Press Conference a venue intended for exchange of information? Perhaps an initial speech and then questions asked & questions answered? What Trump did here was, at best, a Press Release - and an idiotic one, at that. What borders on being criminal is fooling the press into getting together for no purpose at all during a runaway pandemic.
1
Aw, come on, who cares about a little itty-bitty corruption, especially among Republicans. It is their RIGHT!
1
Potential scandals caused by relatives appear to be a fickle issue in madcap US politics. While Trump placed all his bets on finding something nefarious with Joe Biden's son (whatever any potential sins of a child might be attributed to the father), the same should be expected to apply in reverse anywhere - but not in the weird world of the Repugnicans: Trump determined that Ted Cruz´s father was instrumental in the John Kennedy assassination, but apparently no Repugnican batted an eye - least of all Ted Cruz, who is now bending over backwards slicking Trump's arse. Apparently, the sins of a Repugnican father should not apply to Repugnican children, but the sins of Democrap children should be the downfall of the Democrap parents. Sound logic, right?
1
Republicans in general are undermining US democracy with gerrymandering & voter suppression. Trump & Co are trying to knock down the revered US constitution by any means possible (and some really stupid and impossible).
1
Well, I suppose the impeachment inquiry alone will be sufficient to expose the extent of Trump's corruption to ensure the he will NOT be re-elected. The final step, the actual impeachment and removal from office are likely water under the bridge already - after all, having Pence as president for the remainder is probably no improvement.
1
Nunes certainly looks like a man that KNOWS the roof is about to cave in on him. I wonder if he really thinks that angrily taking pictures of the journalist & camera crew (for later lawsuit purposes?) will have them quake in fear. They, and everyone else, are simply laughing their heads off.
1
I wonder if, for once in his presidency, Trump is actually NOT telling a lie - well, not entirely! Apparently the military started doing refueling and stopovers at Prestwick well before Trump became president. The increase in stopovers AFTER he became president is, however, quite suspicious...
1
Face it: Whenever Trump talks about "our country" he is actually talking about Trump (in the third person!). The man has boundless vanity but no shame. He constantly confuses himself with the USA, anyone against Trump is committing TREASON.
1
Actually, the current sanctions on "Russia" is brilliant! The sanctions are aimed at Russian oligarchs, NOT the Russian people as a whole.
1
Should the US stop talking about it's Military Forces and use "US Mercenary Forces"?
