The entire Trump family has good reason to be extremely worried - not because of political revenge (politicians never know when they themselves will be at the receiving end, so they avoid it like the plague), but because they have a long and deep history of allegedly criminal actions that suddenly became VERY interesting to the authorities during the reign of Emperor Trump. Now exposed, there are many, MANY criminal investigations that have been put on hold because of Papa Trump's temporary immunity from any and all investigations. Presidential pardons only cover federal crimes, there are PLENTY of state crimes committed to go around within the family...

The Trump arse-lickers that bucked the regular proceedings of the 'Murican "judicial system" (flawed as it is) should be hunted down and made to pay for their subversion of the system - not to pay for abusing Cohen, but for further corrupting the so-called US judicial system.
1
Isn't it ironic: Texas is now officially a charity case! Come to think of it, the entire US seems to have become a charity case...
1
Russel Brand, a Critical Thinker, my arse! He is, and always has been a filthy talker, spewing crap all the time. Substance? Nah, none ever... David, lending airtime to weirdos like Russel Brand only helps those nut-jobs!
1
Everything Trump touches dies. Musk (a controversial smell) is within Trump's touch, and he is dying.
1
Well, Trump is about to argue his cases before some proper courts of law. Let's see how he fares in the "cruel" world of reality.
1
"Good Ratings", real or imagined, seems to be the only thing that matters to the Orange Idiot.
1
Isn't this a classic case of the "survival of the fittest"? Darwin outlined this: The stupid will follow their cult leaders in ignoring proven safety precautions and thus being almost certain to be infected with the Delta variant of this virulent virus - as well as refusing the proven protection of a vaccination. The bad news: A lot of people will lose in the Covid lottery and die. The good news: Most of the casualties will be stupid and ignorant Repugnicans, leading to a genuine cleansing of the US voting pool!
1
@theresastirling2337 - OK, but what makes you think that YOU do? Is democracy about everyone voting the way YOU want? Or is it my disregard of religion? Am I a better person if I am a devout Christian or a devout Muslim? A far as I can see, religion of any kind is a blight on humanity, and has always been. Religion is probably the most harmful innovation of the human mind...
1
Farron, Fair and Balanced? No you are not! You are opinionated - which is fine by me because I agree with most of your opinions. The "fair and balanced" label sounds familiar. Quite a few years ago, this was a slogan used by one of Fox "News" shows during the short period I actually watched Fox because it was glitzy and attention-grabbing. I did not, however, last long as a Fox viewer because the stuff they were spewing was too glaringly twisted and, frankly, stupid! I am a citizen of one of the Nordic countries and have all my life been living in an environment that is the polar opposite of what the Fox Nuts are advocating - and by the way, while my country is consistently in the top 3-4 "Happiest Country" group, we are not "HAPPY" happy, we are merely very content. Can you 'Muricans say the same?
1
David, in over 5 minutes of bla-bla you failed to point out WHY Trump is fighting like mad to avoid giving testimony under oath: The man is incapable of telling the truth! He WILL be caught in multiple, easy-to prove lies within minutes. He cannot help perjuring himself!
1
Have you noticed how Trump has for years talked like a Royal, referring to himself in the plural: "WE" this and "WE" that? By allowing someone like Trump a second chance at the levers of power, 'Murica is not seen as "somewhat of a joke" by other developed countries, you are seen as an outright bleedin' FARCE!
1
My problem with Musk (is that a smell?) is that I am unable to find a direct correlation with the Nazi characters of the 1930s. Is Musk more like Göbbels than Borman? Either way, Elon Musk is BAD NEWS! The brand change from Twitter to Excrement quite telling... I am in a family that has a remote summerhouse at 66°N, and Starlink is now available! We have been using a rather primitive 2/3G cell phone reflected signal for communicatons, and Starlink is a grand replacement that we will probably NOT use because we do NOT want to support a fascist like Musk!
1
How superficial can you Americans get? I guess this is a good example.
1
Why would anyone want to emigrate to the Crazy United States of America? The ridicuous "citizenship test" discussed here is just an example of the absurdity! I live in one of the "not-shithole" countries Toddler Trump wanted immigrants from, i.e. one of the Nordic countries that would NEVER want to emigrate to the Lunatic States of America. We have assured and affordable health care, affordable education up to PhD levels and all the social safety nets anyone can wish for. During the current pandemic, EVERYTHING related to Covid is FREE (tests, treatments, follow-up care) - this is about public health after all, never mind the bloody elites! Following WW2 the US were a great influence in Europe and most countries are still following the US model. The only country that has competely abandoned that model is the US itself! Go figure, you silly sods!
1
What is the difference between the mayor's hypothetical "1400 dollar debit card" and Sucker Carlson's "14-hour debit card"? Ignorance and idiocy are the factors that first come to mind... For legal reasons they hurriedly mention that "they have not been able to verify this" and then they continue to spout misinformation...
1
Europe is NOT about to accept Trump's nonsense. The way things are going, 'Murica will have military bases NOWHERE, and they will not be allowed access to ANYWHERE!
1
Wikileaks cannot help being "partial" to the opponents of those being damaged by leaks being published at any given time. Wikileaks has damaged the US by exposing some of the atrocities committed by the US. The US is understandably angry with Assange, but the fact remains that Assange is an Australian national that owes no allegiance to the US, and the US has no jurisdiction over him. That has not stopped the US from hounding him illegally for years.
1
I used "England", but meant the entire UK & Ireland (England, Wales, Scotland & all the rest - traditional coffee there was, well, maybe not awful but generally not good. The term Institutional coffee comes to mind. I always imagined that this explained natives preferred tea - until fancy stuff like espresso and the like arrived.
1
The good news: Trump is doing his level best to make sure many of his supporters as possible will be too sick to vote on election day!
1
This is probably unfair, I am sure there are a lot of reasonable & sensible people in the southern US, but there certainly appear to be a lot of their opposite number as well...
1
There is a factor David does not mention: When your job is gone, when your health insurance is gone, your family is starving and you are about to be evicted, you (and most people around you) are a ticking time bomb. You have plenty of time on your hands and a looming deadline. When things snap, they will snap violently. Sadly, the peaceful among you (the non-right-wingers) will be unprepared with no resources to commit violence while the Preppers (the rabid right-wingers) will already be armed to the teeth and have stockpiles of food and ammunition. The outlook ain't pretty...
1
One of the reasons that the US is falling apart as a nation is the absolute dysfunctionality of the so-called "legislative" branch. By the simple expedient of limiting any bill that might become law to be about one issue and ONE ISSUE ONLY, all these shenanigans would simply disappear! One bill deciding the aid to struggling citizens due to Covid. Check. A separate bill deciding federal support for small businesses. Check. An entirely separate bill allowing criminally negligent corporations immunity fro liability. Check, but probably dead on arrival - what politician would commit political Hara-Kiri by openly voting for such an atrocity? No hiding behind having actually voted for an entirely different part of a multi-issue bill.
1
All idiot Palin seems capable of is screeching on about other issues when asked a question she does not like.
1
The greatest benefit conservatives have is NOT any strength they might have, it is the weakness that democrats/progressives/whatever have: Republicans are unified by big-donor money. Corporate/Conservative Democrats are unified by big-donor money. Progressive Democrats are NOT unified by anything other than worthy ideals that have yet to be properly defined and formulated as something to unify around. Left-leaning politicians will unerringly sabotage themselves by infighting.
1
It's funny to watch Musk trying to be humble and asking to be re-admitted to the human race, after exposing himself to be a rabid fascist. The last few weeks have made it clear just WHAT Elon Muk IS: A rabid fascist! As Trump's co-president for a few weeks, he has wreaked havoc on countless but necessary US Social Services, making EVERYONE all around the world see what he actually IS! Now no one wants to buy his overpriced EVs and he will probably find that no one wants to use his Starlink service (except for those that do not have a choice). This captive audience will jump on the first alternate satellite internet service to provide an alternate solution, Musk has become that much hated in recent months, after he showed his true colors. Wanna bet which is more hated by sensible people, Trump or Musk?
1
Trump's reading abilities have vastly improved overt the last 6 years. Note how he is now able to focus on (and actually read from) a teleprompter to his right for many, MANY seconds before flawlessly switching to a teleprompter in front of him or even to one to his left, without hardly slowing down in his reading of fiction. A really TREMENDOUS achievement for someone of Trump's intellect! Compare ant contrast this with his reading abilities only 4-6 years ago: He used to fumble and misread at least one word in every paragraph, and came across as a first-grader. Who knows, with this rate of progress, he even might be able to put together a coherent sentence, all by himself, by 2030!
1
What I find rather horrifying is the fact that this deranged person made it to the rank of a General in the US military. Also, his brother has a similar rank and HE is still active (it remains to be seen what influence the brother had on the stance of the military during the insurrection). What does this say about the general mental stability of the US military top brass?
1
The simple fact that the US elected Trump at all is an indication of the current decline of the US. Trump is a symptom of a serious problem, not the cause. The biggest worry: The US military might and it's propensity to USE it is terrifying to the rest of the world. This might seem far-fetched, but there is a real risk that the US might, in not too many years, find itself at war with not only it's typical adversaries but most or all it's former allies as well. The US that we used to know is disintegrating before our very eyes, and Trump is only serving as an accelerant. The current worry about irreversible climate change in 12 years might be moot; Things might get a lot worse in only 1.5 years!
1
Peter Doozy IS a stupid SOB. Biden only stated a fact, the simple truth! Of course the POTUS should show more restraint, but every man has a limit. At least Biden has shown far more restraint that Trump did.
1
It is amazing how quickly the comments devolve into bickering about non-related issues - but maybe that is intentional, to lead everyone away from the core issue. Typical Trump copycats - distract, distract, talk about anything else...
1
Trump netted his "donors" billions of $ in tax cuts recently. What is the problem? Are the not happy? Do they want more? The problem: Trump needs A LOT more money, his donors are greedier than ever BUT - US citizens are dying in droves without a credible war going on and... Trump NEEDS someone to invade the US to "unite" the country, but there are no takers. Putin's adored Russia is obviously off-limits, Trump hasn't completely managed to dismantle NATO yet so he is in dire straits. What to do, seeing that the South American Caravans have been used up? Personally I an REALLY worried, after all, the Orange Idiot is still the US CIC, he has the nuclear codes and is currently desperate for something, ANYTHING to save his fat arse. This will not end well...
1
Sara Palin is about as eloquent as Donald J. Trump. Trying to follow their disjointed rants will drive anyone around the bend.
1
Well, the GOP (the Grotesque Old Party) has gone rogue, it has recently shafted the feminine half of the US nation and is about to shaft any number of smaller minority groups that still have voting rights, even if those groups have to fight HARD to be able to vote in face of the adverse gale of right-wing voter suppression and gerrymandering. If all the potential but apathetic voters that have not bothered to throw their weight in, but have chosen to stay apathetic - fat, ignorant and lazy, not bothering to vote - the US nation truly DESERVES the fate Repugnican fascists like DeSantis have in store for them: A replay of 1930's Germany! One wonders if, when all the fighting and dying is done, in a decade or two, the former USA will be split into West 'Murica (the part under the thumb of China) and East 'Murica (the part exploited by Russia)?
1
NATO was set up by the US after WW2 as a consolidation of nations as a deterrent to the USSR by pledging to come to the defense of any member nation being attacked. It was primarily a defense alliance, no more, no less. NATO involvement in the Yugoslavian conflict was debatable - after all, no NATO member nation had been attacked, but it was justified on humanitarian grounds. What NATO was doing in Afghanistan was another matter altogether. No member nation had been attacked by Afghanistan, and the humanitarian excuse did not apply. Was NATO a US puppet? The way things are going with Trump at the helm, NATO will probably be dissolved - which can only be described as Putin's wet dream. In that case, it will probably be replaced by something like ETO (European Treaty Organization?), leaving the US to fend for itself against Putin. Is that what you want?
1
Michael Timely , is this the Evangelicals waiting for their rapturous Armageddon?
1
Of course Trump did not MEAN to admit that Russia helped him getting elected, but he is such a baby that he regularly makes childish mistakes like this.
1
Be realistic! Repugnican = Liar, cheat, untrustworthy. Can you imagine the relief I feel, living in Iceland where Repugnicans are considered idiots, nutjobs, even insane! We value equality, universal health care, education and all that stuff, but most important: COMMON SENSE! I our opinion, 'Murica is populated by brainwashed and ignorant IDIOTS! So much for the land/home of the brave/free.You have been hoodwinked/fooled/(is there a newer term for this?).
1
Taylor Swift is, by all appearances, a reluctant "political meddler", simply by making public her persona, and l political views. One thing is clear, Taylor is an intelligent young woman with humanistic opinions (something that terrifies Repugnicans), and she happens to be a superstar in 'Murica. The Incel Repugnicans are basically screwed!
1
Only radical right-wingers are capable of coming up with ridiculous and contradictory concepts like "post-birth abortion". A baby cannot be aborted after it is born, by that stage it becomes infanticide or what even a moron would call outright murder. It tells us all we need to know about their mental abilities - which seem on a moronic level.
1
It will be interesting to watch how Elon Stink eventually tries to evade the charges that will swamp him in less than 4 years. He actually IS directly involved in indirect mass murder (USAID destruction), unlawful interference with government employees etc. This Fascist flash-in-the-pan WILL cost lives on a large scale, and the instigators (Trump, Stink, Miller etc.) will eventually be held responsible.
1
What 'Murican police forces need is actual, proper training! A few weeks of training for a rookie cop that has not even been properly evaluated for character flaws will NOT a good cop make.
1
Single-payer healthcare is NOT a new, untried experiment that can be debunked with imagined doomsday scenarios. Most European countries have had one form or another of single-payer healthcare with far better success than the US system.
1
I will meet a lot of 'Murican tourists in the summer of 2025, and I am looking forward to asking the if they are proud of where they have elected their country is going - as well as disrespecting them to the extent possible. 'Muricans will be 'personas non grata' anywhere outside their own self-deluded zones for years to come. The rest of the world is finding out, the hard way, that 'Muricans are disgusting people at their core.
1
I feel an immense personal relief, finding myself far removed from the calamities Trump is about to unleash on his voters - which they thoroughly deserve! Being safely ensconced within the borders of my Nordic country, with a functioning and affordable health care system that actually works for everyone makes me feel safe and secure. If the worst-case scenario unfolds, with a vaccine-denier at the helm of the NHS, 'Muricans will not be allowed to enter most of the European countries without undergoing a thorough quarantine first!
1
I find it striking that there is no mention of Taylor Swift urging her fans to vote one way or another, she is apparently just urging her fans to GO AND VOTE! She may be anti-Repugnican herself but that is not why the Repugnicans are prematurely losing their water - Repugnicans HATE the idea of a large voter turnout because most 'Muricans, especially young ones, are against them.
1
US Health care: Universal Health Care in the US is predicted to cost $32T over a period of time (10 years, I believe). What most pundits omit is that this will be offset by even more money being saved by the public. Taxpayers will be paying more taxes but will avoid having to buy dubious and more expensive health care plans that in many cases do not even cover relevant health problems. The big issues are a) preventing for-profit insurance companies skimming fat profits off health care costs, and b) allowing a bulk buyer (the government) to negotiate drug prices with the for-massive-profits drug companies. This works in Europe, why should the US be unable to do the same?
1
The masks are coming off MSNBC, CNN and other mainstream media outlets - they are all Corporate America mouthpieces that have been masquerading as being liberal-leaning, but only because they hate Trump more than they hate Progressive Democrats.
1
"Laughing stock under Trump" is not really how other nations see the US. A "potential global disaster" is more appropriate - after all, the US is the greatest military power on the planet and has NOT been known for much restraint in past decades. Instead it is known for supporting and even introducing severe corruption wherever they meddle. The fact that this mighty military power is about to fall apart is horrifying for other nations. The death throes of the US Republic will have dire consequences for EVERYBODY on the planet.
1
Any way you spin it: The US is in deep, DEEP trouble having elected someone that has the mental acuity and eloquence of a spoiled 8-year old. The simple fact that the US nations did not manage to get rid of him during these past 4 years is one thing, the brutal fact that the Orange Idiot actually has a chance of being elected AGAIN is gigantic thumbs-down for the US. Any nation where this can happen is obviously totally dysfunctional - the last time that comes to mind was pre-WW2 Germany.
