  4. My boyfriend has a second job at a grocery store here in the US. Still lots of panic buying and empty shelves. They are receiving trucks, but supply comes gradually - as it always has with just a little of everything at a time (Walmart), so when a little flour, bread, toilet paper, and so on comes in each day, people go nuts and immediately buy it. People try and time their shopping with when they believe deliveries arrive, coming in at store opening, or close to store closing. The store has put up signs on some items with "limit 1 per person". People have thrown loaves of bread at him in anger. It is a very weird time. Yet - the store is still full of many items, such as, the people could still buy bread from the bakery area, so the store does still have bread, just not the regular commercial loaves - the bakery area is fully stocked.

  10. Lysol spray. I have been using some HEPA air cleaner room filters that have a UV light in a few rooms. Wont help surfaces but will clean the air.

  16. I checked your average yearly temperatures for Portugal and the LOWEST average is 62F/17.1c. Are you serious? Have you ever been really cold? And you think you are going to "freeze to death" at 62 degrees F? Try being in an actual cold climate with no heat.

  26. 2.17% is not true and anticipated to be much higher. That number is based on China's figures, of those tested as a percentage of deaths. However, there is a huge amount of China's population untested and recovering at home during their quarantine, thus the death percentage is off. Not to mention, China has notorious for not reporting accurate amounts throughout this. See Dr. John Campbell's channel for more about this.

  27. My gosh, are those bomb sirens? Terrifying. In the US, I live near a military airport and the big planes have been coming in - unusual. I'm guessing they've been transporting in the troops and maybe large vehicles. They come in all night, and they are very loud.

  29. Here in the US, in our frequent blackouts, they would rather load dumpsters full of all of the cooler (dairy and produce) and freezer foods than give it away. Where I am in northern Maine, US, we have multiple power outages lasting 3-4 days SEVERAL times a year, at least 3 that are a week or longer. They dump the coolers and freezers often.

  33. Potatoes will store ALL winter in the cold cellar (root cellar). We always do this. I still have over a hundred pounds left for the rest of winter in my cellar.

  35. I can see in the comments that a lot of people are still in denial. In the US, nurses are essentially useless for medical - people seem to think of WWII movies but that is not the case now. Instead you'd be better off with a military medic, veterinarian, obviously a doctor, or even a first responder that can stabilize until you locate one of the previously mentioned higher trained resources!

  37. 1. You have to learn to not worry about things you can't control. 2. The US bombed Japan twice during WWII and most of the population was ok, except for the long term consequences you mentioned (same as Cherynoble, cancer). 3. With what you mentioned, it seems like the largest concern is the aftereffects, which would be FOOD. If you can't eat out of your garden afterwards, you can't eat milk, dairy, maybe eggs, etc. that is something we need to prepare for.

  49. I don't think people in (most) of the US are taking it seriously either. I haven't seen anyone with a mask, although I've been in for a few days and don't plan to go out again. I haven't spoken with anyone who has seen anyone with a mask. The government is downplaying it. Everyone I speak to thinks I'm crazy and thinks it's just like the flu. I too have a condition.

  50. Lilly, I am a vegetarian and I order frequently from Swansonvitamins, they are very inexpensive, have a supplement that helped my low iron a lot- blackstrap molasses. I get probiotics and other supplements. They have lots of sales. I don't work for them or receive incentive :)
