The AfD is the future of Germany. Right now they are enduring the immune reaction of the German political establishment, the same way that the US establishment, both Democrat and Republican reacted to Trumps brand of progressivism. The question in Germany, and Europe as a whole, is if they can endure the pending collapse and what will happen to all the millions of non Europeans who are currently there. Will they endure in enclaves, like Germans did in Ukraine and Hungary, pre WWII. Or will they be sweep, driven, or otherwise removed from Europe in a faster fashion?
Once the welfare state cracks in Europe, and it will if Trumps tariffs go into effect, then the knives will come out.

@jsbrads1 But they dont. You are including all the subsidies that agra business gets. Those will be all gone. And so will there ever growing consumer base. They will all be operating at a loss. Which is the problem most farmers have.
The reason I didnt respond to your points is because I didnt see your second post, just the first. You might be right about automated transport. maybe. But those farms, which are huge and in the middle of no where and already on marginal land, are already barely profitable.
Throw in infrastructure that is already falling apart and in the future with massive deficits and declining population, most of those areas will go back to dirt or gravel roads. That makes transport in some times of the year not only near impossible but more expensive.
The issue with looking at things in the future is thinking that everything will stay the same. Everything is going to fall apart. We just cant afford it. AI wont fix that. Respectfully.
So in the end, smaller farms that are more self sustainable with good farming practices will have to come back. AI will be included but it wont take over. Farming on marginal land will disappear. If anything it will go back to being pasture. But even then, the margins on pasture cattle are so slim, even today, most wont even believe it. Average pasture raised beef brings in just 200 bucks profit on a good year. That for a 3 year investment. Thats awful risky.
And as we have seen recently with Swine and Foul, both of those are no longer safe in large feedlots. My small ten acre farm brings in a good profit, last year near 90k. They key is finding the right markets. Perhaps AI will help in that regard too, with the data crunching.
