@paulleverton9569 <---"Grow up, Tim." Excellent, I totally agree. When I hear the term "military industrial complex" being thrown around like that, it's like I'm listening to some lightweight, pretentious, juvenile-minded, know-nothing pedant in a cheap bar.

Q: How much panhandling did S tal in do from the USA during World War II? A: All he had to do, all he could, as a responsible head of state protecting his nation from peril. Next!
2
False. For many decades schools have taught that Canada is a "cultural mosaic," always strongly contrasting it with the American melting pot.
2
@Steakfrie I know. Try reading between the lines of my post.
2
LastNamefirst-wv7jj That's all a matter of opinion.
2
@cleopatrasnile If by "many Canadians" you mean hundreds, then yes.
2
@EthanLomas ...and Canadian Tire! (Or as I call it, The Ch i na Store.)
2
Actually, NoFrills makes it so that lower-income Canadians can eat decently. It would be a disaster for them if the chain disappeared. The stores are individually and locally owned, by the way. The Loblaw co. is just their supplier. Metro, on the other hand....

@Youtube music Canada did a great job in Afghanistan in the very challenging province of Kandahar. It had realistic expectations given that absolutely conquering Afghanistan has long been impossible and remains so to this day. The UN-mandated ISAF did what it was there to do, and Canada and its allies left at a time of their own choosing.

Same old argument here: "Pit bulls aren't dangerous. It's only a few bad owners." One, their sole purpose is to bite another animal to death. Two, only one type of person buys a pit bull: a maladjusted and dangerous one. No one else would want one. No one else does.
2
No, that's not pocket change for Loblaws. Ten million, sure; $50 million probably; but $500 million is real money. It won't cripple the company or affect its future, but they'll sure as hell remember it.
2
@CanadianExtremist2024 Meh. Interesting claim.🙄 But far more importantly, @lastChang is stating facts.
2
@maryrankin9869 Where did you learn that?
2
Nonsense. The dry May and the lightning storm at the beginning of June are both well within the bounds of regular weather patterns. Nonstop lies. And go back to calling them forest fires. 'Wildfires' is simply an attempt to make them sound much more dramatic. Low journalism.
2
Good path to having an investment portfolio and eventually buying a house.👍
2
@jsshay01 (1) "Put together"? What? What the devil did I say about being "put together?" Do you hallucinate words as you read things? (2) They've been married since 2022. I wouldn't call that a marriage of "many years." That's just my opinion.
2
@changemaison Yes, but when territorial boundaries are breached, it also means "diverting" the aircraft, which means forcing it to turn back. On this occasion the planes stayed in international airspace.
2
That's true. Especially compared to the overwhelming expense of dealing directly with Putin after he's invaded more countries, it's lunch money, as I've said all along. Lunch money.
2
Joly really knows how to phone it in. I saw her as very insincere. As for Blair, those rioters he referred to were dressed in the de facto Antifa uniform and behaved exactly as the latter always do. Calling them "anarchists" is wrong. They are in favour of an authoritarian communist-type regime, not anarchy. And he knows it.
2
That freshman to comparing this situation to Kent State is what's nutty. He can't even speak his native English properly when admitting it's the protestors who've been committing crimes. ("There has been acts of violence. There has been incidents of absolutely unacceptable violence.") Subject-verb agreement, my boy.
2
When 'progressives' weaponize 'empathy.'
2
Ah, so let's just shut down the Canadian Armed Forces? Brilliant. You're invited to run for office on that platform.
2
@AtteliaVel I'm guessing the definition of it which you choose to call legitimate suits people of a far to the left political leaning and is rooted in the radical ideology of French extreme leftists from the 1970s. Or maybe not France, maybe another hotbed of radical ideologues like OISE or York University. Wherever it came from, you can keep it for yourself.
2
"A director at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police can expect to make an average total pay of $150,630." But it wasn't enough for this corrupt and greedy man. Likewise, 20 years in prison is not enough.
2
Who? You mean Justin Ocasio Cortez?
2
@raydimmock4336 Hoover Vacuum Co.: "Hey, stop comparing vacuums to Justin Trudeau's mind!"
2
@Rudraksh-ql4ce Well, that sounds serious. But accusations are flying back and forth. I don't think Canada has made an effort to involve itself in this Indian dispute. It has no desire to shelter murdering terrorists so I believe that there must be more to it than you are letting on. I don't see Canada making a single exception only for Sikh terrorists. Perhaps you are right, I'll look into it some more. But you sound very partisan. In any case, I resent those specific parties in India and those Indian Canadians who have brought this Indian conflict into Canada. Whoever they are (and I cannot really name them) they could hardly think of a worse thing to do to a foreign land which has always been friendly to them, used to give them a lot of aid, and has welcomed them into its home.
2
@Rudraksh-ql4ce Good! Keep going. I wish India a better 2024 and a better future. Canadians have always felt the same and used to be major donors. Also please excuse my inaccuracy. Tbh, I didn't mean it literally at all, I just meant it rhetorically. I'm a bit surprised I was that close.
2
What? It makes perfect sense. Shiploads of garlic come in from Chigh Nuh for almost nothing. In stores, shoppers grab it up because Canadian garlic costs 5x more. Think, for god's sake. Just think.
2
Probably due to a refusal to pay protection money. Canada is drowning in gangs.
2
Watches with a value running to the five figures strike me as vulgar anyway, suited to show-off trash reeking of cologne. They're really just jewellery for the shallow, vain and insecure.
2
Sure, Chanfun.
2
We can leave it now? Two together, business class, please. One way.
2
Mao deliberately starved tens of millions.
2
I find the lighting gaudy and tacky, like the lights that some insecure young guys install on and under their cars. I always assumed it was imported Chinese taste, and here the CN Tower executive confirms it. At one time the building had a wonderfully serious look. No longer.
2
looser = opposite of tighter loser = opposite of winner
2
Here he is condemning something he helped fuel with the divisiveness of his earlier condemnations. Denouncing and condemning long lists of things and people are really all he does. From one hour to the next he's either the Condemner-In-Chief or the Denouncer-In-Chief. Meanwhile this Peter Pan has done nothing real about Canada's problems. (Unless you count adding to them.)
2
@m.a.2282 Heavens, you write awfully. Now what "lie" would that be? Regale me.
2
@Rocksteady246 Well, I do know that the USSR was defeated in Afghanistan and then disintegrated under two years later.😄 So Russia should get ready for a repeat.
2
@Rocksteady246 Btw, I mute huge bores. So TTFN
2
This is a strict forum, so I can't really state what I'm guessing Smith was thinking. So I'll just say the initials: "S.U., B.!"
2
@rickvervoort9536 What kind of question is that? I suggest asking your teacher or your mom and dad.
2
@JJUnohu What $50bn are you talking about? What social services? What tax contribution? What on earth are you on about?
2
There's no need to hire anyone who's not a native speaker of English to read the news on Canadian TV. Stop your virtue signalling.
2
Curious about your claim, I went to eBay Canada. Sorting by price, I found many hundreds of listings for the Explorer model at $10k or higher. Which I thought was odd, since quite a few were listed for $7,500-8,500. Then I realized that the watch is available in multiple sizes, larger-diameter ones costing more. Btw, not one was offered at $7k.
2
@HeatherFoster-nk5vn As if an ad takes away anyone's choice.🙄omg
2
See the excellent Ukraine Support Tracker of Germany's Kiel Institute. Its latest update released Sept. 7 ranks Canada 6th in the G7 in total support for Ukraine as a share of its GDP, not first. Our direct financial support portion is high only because our military support portion is low. Canada is likewise sixth in absolute dollar terms, behind four G7 members and Norway.
2
More money to Ukraine, another $10bn, from the heart of Canada!! After that, another $10bn. There's simply no better way to spend it right now.
2
If the resolution is so faulty, what's his explanation for not voting against it? 🤨
2
Chicken feed. They claim it will get 2,000 houses built, but it's only the equivalent of the price of about 100 homes currently. Either way, insignificant compared with the need for 3,500,000 houses. Peanuts.
