@georgebenson2133 I agree negative press is a great problem many places, but my problem with Africa is that no other continent has received aid in trillions and trillion of dollars for 60 years and is still stuck in poverty and war many places. Is it 135 billion dollars Africa get each year ?? The 10 poorest countries in the world, according to the UN human development report, are Niger, the Central African Republic, Chad, South Sudan, Burundi, Mali, Eritrea, the Sierra Lioness and Mozambique. If Africa was a well driven, with honest and good governments, happy and thriving populations in the countries, making great progress in education and development I would have no problem. But we all know who is going to continuing to pay for food aid to Africa, who will pay and take refugees from the African war and conflicts, who will pay when 1 billion people in Africa become 2 billion people. If Africa was self-sustained and independent of the West and others, they could do whatever they want. I'm just tired of paying year after year to messed that seems to continue and has no end in sight. That's why I say population is a problem, its a vicious poverty trap. You lift 20 million people out of poverty, but if 50 million new poor babies are born, you are stuck in the same mud. Northern Africa exhibits the highest unemployment rates in the world at over 30percent in 2019. It creates frustration, that create conflicts and war. Egyptians president just said its a huge problem that Egyptians population will go from 100 to 200 million people in 30 years. Africa is big and diverse, but it tops many of the wrong statistics unfortunately.

@floodingthesea9366 I read this a few days ago 9. Feb 2021 :
Egypt on Tuesday opened its border crossing with the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip, "indefinitely" allowing the coastal strip's people passage to the outside world, a security source said.
Gaza residents crossing the Rafah border point on Tuesday expressed a mixture of relief and bitterness.
"I've been waiting for six months for the crossing to open," university student Ibrahim al-Shanti, 19, told AFP.
"The repeated closures have cost me a semester of my studies. I hope it's really permanent."
Cairo took the step while hosting talks between Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, and Fatah, which runs the Palestinian Authority in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
The rival movements, along with other Palestinian factions, are discussing holding parliamentary and presidential votes later this year, their first in 15 years.

@janendegwa5462 well many take advantage of Africa, many governments are currupt, big loans with big interests, EU trade deals could be better for Africa, bad tax systems and so on. But I don't understand why you can't see population as problem, just read the UN reports. If governments can't provide jobs, schools, hospitals, good infrastructure, security for a large population growing too fast it create more poverty, frustration, conflicts and wars. I have followed the news on Africa for 40 years, exact same problems as when I was child nothing has changed except for wild population growth. Look at Asia like China and Korea, they were very poor too but controlled birth rates and has become financial power houses. Like 30 % of all pollution stems from making concrete and steel for building houses. A billion more people in Africa is a big problem for all. Researches say that earth population would be in balance around 2,5 billion people. I wish the best for all but we are digging our own graves here on many levels, both East, West, North, South.

@georgebenson2133 I agree many bad things happen in Africa, but like the Middle East its always the same tired argument I hear. " We are completely innocent, we have no power or blame in this mess, we will always be victims of the world, therefore we can do whatever we like without any fault". I must disagree, every grown man has power and responsibility over own life. Take action and be honest in the assessment, what is our part of the problem and what can we do about. And its not true Africa don't make weapons. A report titled 'Trends in International Arms Transfers, 2018,' showed a 6.5 per cent decrease in arms imports in Africa over the last decade. This could be attributed to the fact that more local manufacturers are joining the lucrative industry,Africa Facts reports that at least 11 African nations currently produce some of the weapons used by the military and police. These manufacturing and distribution factories can be found in South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Sudan and other parts of the continent. So you may attack me, but I think you are wrong. That said I will always love your music George Benson especially the track " Everything must change".
