Name calling only makes you look silly, especially on a scholarly channel. FYI Paul didn't usually write his letters either. He dictated to scribes. And I think you're being picky about apostles. There were more apostles than the original twelve.

the long e has morphed into an i sound. It's still written the same way, Iesus, but the pronunciation has changed into Iisus.

what, a birth defect? doesn't that disqualify him from being a priest?

@ZombieDragQueen "all contemporary Jacobs in the NT have the Hellenized form?" I don't know. probably, but it would take considerable effort to check as there were lots of them. "The infinitive would be Ioudas." Ioudas is a noun. It does not have an infinitive. It can be inflected in some contexts so that it reads "Iouda" in which case you can't distinguish. But Judah is rendered Ioudas (nom) and Ioudan (acc) In Mat 1.2-3, hellenized just like Judas in Jude 1 and John 14.22. Looks like unlike Jacob, Judah's name was hellenized. Luke 3.26 has "Iouda" but it's genitive so I can't tell. Rev 5.4, 7.5 has "Iouda" and I'm not sure of the case, but I think it's genitive. Are there any other references to OT Judah in the NT?

No, apparently it means something like "God saves" or "God the saviour".

@TheThreshermansson The word "name" means a label you use to refer to something or someone, not "truth and righteousness". The names "Immanuel" and "Jesus/Joshua" are not etymologically related. "Messiah/Christ" is a title and unrelated to the person's name.

human evil is largely the result of selfishness and greed, a part of human nature. i don't know much about it, but i can see how people might personify that human tendency as a malevolent being.

so the resurrection was on april 9th 2022!? i think you're out by a few centuries ...

Good question (as in, I noticed this too). As he points out, the Julian calendar was inaccurate and drifted over time. Maybe after the changes made in the Gregorian (modern) calendar, it must have shifted from the 25th to the 21st.

The ancient Greeks looked back on the heyday before the bronze age collapse and set most of their mythical heroes in that bygone era, some of whom had divine father and human mother. I wonder if there's a connection.

do you mean he's over thinking it since he hasn't made any more videos on the topic, or do you mean he's overthinking it since his explanation is rather long and involved? there has to be some explanation of why early books in the bible never mention him, later books of the OT portray him in a not so malevolent way, and then the NT regards him strongly as a malevolent being.

When I compared the NIV NT to the original Greek, I was shocked. It changes the meaning of words and inserts words that aren't there all over the place.

Genesis doesn't seem to identify the Nephilim with the children of the sons of God. (Would that have made them God's grandsons?) It just mentions in passing that they were around "in those days ... and also afterward".

I saw the triforce symbol in a Buddhist temple in Japan. Is there some relationship between Buddhism and Hylianism?

in Hebrew thought a soul is a living being. God breathed life into Adam and he became a soul. A soul departing means stop breathing and your life ends. in the new testament, "soul" is often used for when we say "person". So maybe a "spiritual part within your soul" might mean "a spiritual aspect about you". Catholics absorbed the Greek idea of a soul being the essential non-material part of a person, a spirit distinct from the physical body. This was probably foreign to non-Hellenistic Jews. So it might not make sense interpreting a Hebrew text that way. just my best guess ...
