we can spread the blame between the consumers and automakers evenly :) toyota has like 15 different crossovers+truck+truck SUV things on sale to skirt fuel regulations. they really don't need another
2
that will never happen because americans hate normal wagons but go crazy for lifted wagons and hatchbacks with plastic cladding, and toyota has that segment covered
2
the mk5 is a tuner heavy hitter....
2
considering that the pajero is cheaper than an LC or patrol, a new montero in the spirit of the 80s one (also sold as a dodge then lol) would do well against the bronco or wrangler
2
@MrSamPhoenix people did buy them. they arent as profitable as a crossover though
2
they've had since 2018 to rectify any issue with that engine with the LS500...
2
lol venzas are still >$30k here
2
i went to motegi myself
2
im sure the far right of Japan would LOVE to see Tesla get involved with this.
2
@user54huhifck57 new 4runner is a rav4 for people who larp being outdoorsy. BoF is unnecessary for 4Runner owners on their way to expensive coffee and tje school drop off line
2
the second scenario calls for a minivan or a wagon, but of course, Americans have ego problems
2
ngl the miata engine feels underwhelming, good chassis but for an NA light weight roadster i want some more drama above 6k rpm lol
2
they're using weaker refigerant
2
@joshlamar1990 exactly, the BOF comparison falls short when almost nobody with a $60k+ 4Runner goes offroad in their shiny brand new rig. and even if you did you'd probably need to get pulled out by some shitbox
2
@dinsmoor366 not really. The big rwd sedan market is dead now. When it was still thriving in the 90s/00s Acura would have never stood a chance to bmw or benz. Now that market has shifted to SUV/Crossover slop, soon to be all EV
2
@courtneypuzzo2502 the corolla hasn't been a subcompact car since the 00s
2
they should have brought the J70 land cruiser over instead tbh
2
yeah but they're not good cars
2
no new+hybrid Odyssey and Ridgeline is a big missed oppurtunity
2
@chrissetina1107 the Fit had great ingress/egress but wasn't lifted enough for Americans (especially boomers).
2
its not viable for the average person. look at how badly the MIrai is doing
2
@brentmiller8494 the price of "freedom" lol
2
@porschegt2346 you jumped ship from a toyota shopping cart to a honda one for everyone to look at you more?
1
toyota has been making hybids for 20+ years that can easily go 300k+ miles on the engines so.....
1
what ev costs the same as a CRV that also competes directly with it?
1
they actually did that with manual hybrids- and they were bad
1
@Masterguy635 i was thinking along the lines of the 3.0 turbo and the hybrid at the same time, but that also could work lol
1
the crown sedan was a concept, but its also a rwd based thing, the camry will still stay fwd as it ever was
1
@jeffrey3280 yes for the time being
1
the first coupe they have in years and they make it cvt only and only with 200hp, come on.
1
lol we're almost at mk6 and yall still upset toyota asked BMW for help with the supra (actually more like the whole car is a BMW) toyota has always built great sports cars with help from outsiders. Meanwhile their in house GR Corolla has a had a few egregious issues.
1
it wouldnt save them and most of you guys commenting for Nissan to make a sports car wouldn't buy it when the time came anyways, so this argument is moot
1
doesnt matter when most of these when bought new will be driven to soccer practice and going to Starbucks
1
@MikeForsythe ITR affordable? adjusted for inflation that would be $40k in 2023 dollars
1
@fortheloveofnoise you're not getting much car under $20k anymore
1
@MikeForsythe i dunno where you grew up but $23k in the 90s was a solid chunk of change just like how $41k is today. Most of the kids you speak of barely could afford a normal Civic Si, forget about GSR, unless they worked their ass off or had daddy's money. I remember my family getting a civic for $17k as our first new car in the US in 2004 which is $27k today, and even that was expensive to us. The original DC2 ITR barely made 200hp, which is now less what the base integra makes, and came with jack shit for interior amenities (AC was optional) so yes you do also get a ton more performance and luxury now too than the 90s shitbox
1
$47-48k
1
@ there is a new IS in the works but I've heard its just gonna be an EV id love to try out a current IS500 though LC500 is also very VERY good looking.
1
so you want an IS350?
1
@swagonwheelselites6365 EVs are only forced onto Americans from our inability to have proper public planning+infrastructure
1
they rate power different for different octane and what not for europe
1
I would trust Hondas NA V6 over Toyota's turbo motors. the Tundra and other new turbo toyota models have serious QC issues. given how the demographic for either of these mall crawlers doesn't really do meticulous maintenance, id trust an NA engine to handle abuse better
1
@ArtieMcYardie they recalled all the v6s on the new tundra.
1
they fit 295 stock fender on the type R btw
1
@TheFK8Life do you have to do anything to the fender to fit 305s? i know you dont need to for 295 but i havent personally seen anyone go wider than that
1
a minivan based crossover is better to drive on the road than a 4runner, where most of these will spend their lives.
1
honda clutches are very easy to modulate so traffic isn't hard but if you're the type of person who buys a commuter car with a manual in 2021 chances are you're probably not worrying about or are plain avoiding scenarios with traffic jams
1
the new camry is just a rehash of the existing tnga platform?
1
@hinchesk2629 acura is stuck in the crossroads of honda's Japanese vs American leadership.
1
please no
