@timothypye901 so why aren't the Beatles in the top 40 now?
1
@goldminnie2086 what's talking got to do with anything? People don't read. Who sells more records now. That's the pointbofmthe article. I think its stupid because obviously new music sells more than old music. But it's also stupid for beatles fans to throw tantrums about obvious facts. Taylor Swift sold more records than the beatles last year. This isn't controversial.
1
@pipkingdom maybe you can't read? What classical song is in the top 40?
1
@guilhermearcoverde4776 they are what? I find it funny how many people are criticizing her music as for teenagers when The Beatles were lietraly the 1st boy band. Who do you think was buying all thier records back then? I'll give you a hint. It wasn't 40 year olds.
1
@_vixen_4504 do you think when someone says nobody listens to X they're literally saying there isn't a single person on the planet? Look at the charts. Do you see the Beatles on the most streamed songs? No. Are the Beatles on the top of any sales right now? No. You're making an anecdotal argument, I'm making a data driven argument based on the population at large.
1
@_vixen_4504 do you think people exclusively listen to other artists on spotify? The vast majority of people listen to music on streaming sites. But even as far as sales the beatles aren't in the top. So by every metric she's more popular now.
1
@_vixen_4504 no it doesnt. If they were talking about cultural impact they'd say "cultural impact". How would music with no musicians motivate people to play instruments? They certainly motivate people to become singers and dancers. To pretend otherwise is being disingenuous, but irrelevant. The quite is about what the public is listening to now. And the majority of the population isn't listening to the beatles. Just like it's not listening to Madonna or JS Bach. Times change and things that were popular in the 60s stop being popular and something new replaces it.
1
@jeremystarling9885 Do you think your anecdote changes anything? Ate the Beatles in the top 100 today? No. So they aren't as popular. This really is the hard. The fact you know 3 people that like them is irrelevant. The larger population of young people doesn't. Whichnis why they aren't in th top 19 and Taylor Swift is.
1
@jeremystarling9885 how did you detrmine they're mostly young people? Show me 1 platform that the beatles are above Taylor Swift for last year. Having a hundred million views on a song that's been on the platform for 20 years isn't the same as getting a hundred million views in 1 year is it?
1
@jeremystarling9885 do you think that means that every video is split 60% young people? Obviously there's videos that are almost 100% young people and others that are 100% old people. I didn't ask if "a lot" of young people listen. I asked you to show me where the Beatles have more views than Taylor last year. That's what this whole thing is about. The fact you can't grasp that is weird.
1
Marco's the man. He was epic in Avatar.
1
Neil Schon is one of my favorites too. He Alex Liedson and Ace Freeley are the reason. Play guitar.
1
I'm sorry Rick but we can't be friends anymore. Putting Metalica ahead of Megadeth is criminal. Metallica has 1 great guitar player. Megadeth has had 8.
1
I’ve never heard one of those songs before. Fortunately.
1
@joegordon2915 how many under 40? That's my point. I don't get the surprise that Taoylor Saift is more popular than the Beatles now. I mean of course she is. This shouldn't surprise anyone.
1
Youre not going to play along with the Ratt track? lol
1
Wait Tim has only heard bad Metelica? Lol
1
@timvanderlans3692 theres a big difference been electronic nstruments and samples. Electrictronic instruments are still instruments. It takes skill to play them, like keyboards. Cutting and pasting a sample doesn't take any talent.
1
Any possibility that they had 9 people given writing credit to spread out the blame if they get sued so its not all on Katy and her Millions?
1
Stryper does a great version of this song.
1
Too many of these Bob Dylan fan boys talk like this. I dont know what it is but they think he walks on water and everybody loves his music. They're always stunned when I tell them I've never listened to a single song of his untilmone was in a film I saw.
1
Yes the traditional tremolo on a Strat doesn’t stay in tune as good but with a Floyd Rose you don’t have those problems.
1
I’m not a fan but that was a huge song. Was surprised it didn’t even make the honorable mentions.
1
Now we’re talking. More from Manchester please especially The Smiths.
1
Can we get a Jinjer what makes this song great? Preferably Home Back. You won't have to worry about copyright crap from them and the meter changes and polyrythms need you attention.
1
Song 6 I've heard a hundred times from 100 different artists.
1
How can anyone claim that rock died before The Police?
1
Ive yet to hear a great older album that been remixed that sounds good, let alone better.
1
I liked the last one. It's not my bag, but it was interesting. Unique vocal.
1
These are supposed to be metal? Don't sound metal at all. Is having a guitar now = metal? Like in the 90s when long hair = metal.
1
This guy rules. He'd be a brilliant drinking buddy I have no doubt. Must have story's for ages.
1
Love the casual name drop, "I was having dinner with Jimmy"
1
Where's Johnny Mahr?
1
I like loads of music that has no guitar or where the guitar isn’t the focus. If there is something extraordinary about it then I’m in. Be that interesting vocal sound, amazing bass player, drummer.... unique sound as a whole even if there isn’t a great technician in the band. But it has to have something unique even if it’s minor. Bud if every song is the same beat, with minimal changes and simplistic lyrics I’m probably not interested.
1
Man I've never heard of these songs besides 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18. And 10 because I saw that Wayens film White chick's lol
1
I'm totally on the lookout for the "pinky police"
1
Rick is killing it! I dont even like Led Zepplin. Thought it was the best of the bunch.
1
I don’t remember cd’s being really consumed until like 88 maybe. Even then they were still really expensive. Cassetes were $10 and if memory serves cd’s were like $20.
1
I wonder was this a conscious decision? Do they read music & understand theory or this another one of those happy accidents were there ear just knows this stuff subconsciously?
1
TBF The Eagles werent well pleased with the sound.
1
The Nita Straus song sounds straight off 10 thousand fists. Cool track.
1
Sven Hoek and Dave Weckel
1
I hate to fall on the side of Perry but these aren’t similar really at all. This is the problem when you get 9 tone deaf musically illiterate people making the decisions.
1
The Yngwei scale is the proper name
1
Do you think the piano tuning is intentional or just a happy accident?
1
@RickBeato Ah very interesting. So a trick of the producer?
1
SRV Voodoo chile. Stunning.
1
What makes this song great for me is the contrast. It’s always been something that my ear has been attracted to. It starts so soft with the beautiful vocals, then the screaming guitar comes in and is gone almost immediately. Then it builds to an increpadores groove with that guitar riff. Even the vocal goes from soft to fierce. Fabulous song.
1
My favorite guitar player. He's got such a love and passion for the guitar. The guy can play every song from 1960-2000 lol it's insane.
1
Totally agree. I own 5 RG550 from the late 80'2 early 90's. The perfect guitar. Easy pliability. Quality craftsmanship from the Fujigen factory. Can get any kind of tones you want. Can get them for $500 on ebay/reverb.
