We've seen time dilation. We've seen clocks slow down and speed up. GPS satellites take into account time dilation. Oh, and, by the way, earth isn't flat.
1
@axeman2638 Sorry but it does. GPS satellites have well-documented adjustments for relativity. There's more; we see muons from high altitude cosmic rays events that can only reach the ground before decaying due to time dilation. We can see red-shift in radiation climbing out of earth's gravity well. An atomic clock was put aboard a jet and compared to one that was left on the ground, and the time difference was what was expected. Relativity confirmed.

@ephesians6ten185 The bandwagon fallacy is deference to the opinion of the majority. I didn't do that. Try again. :)
1
@axeman2638 Why should I believe Ron Hatch?
1
@ephesians6ten185 Gravity works fine without buoyancy, but gravity is what gives direction to buoyancy. Mass has been repeatedly shown to attract mass, and it's not just droppity. If density and buoyancy was all that mattered then a pound of feathers would weigh as much as a ton of feathers. Earth isn't flat. Thank you for playing.

I'm not sure humans should drive cars. Give them enough iterations of the trolley problem and their wetware either takes too long to make a decision or crashes entirely.
1
I keep hoping for Lorentz assymetry. I don't have evidence or math, just hope.

Historically, capitalism, at least in the west, is especially good for the top 20% (of course), but it's been better for the middle class as well. That may be thrown off by having only a few socialist countries having existed in modern times, but look at the wealth of the PRC after they re-introduced market features.
1
@rainbowkrampus The problem with that is that you'd need powerful people to ensure that nobody gathered much power. You wouldn't if most everybody were saints, but almost any system would work with saints.
1
@ajr993 I cannot disagree. Checks nd balances are probably the best we can do.
1
@rainbowkrampus Question for you: who makes the decisions for who gets paid how much?
1
@rainbowkrampus so all the business decisions are done by vote?
1
What about artificial pets? Can we get a CatGPT?
1
How do you prepare people for drilling? You drill them, of course.
1
The speed of light is pretty much the maximum speed of information transmission, and other than that speed everything else about them is pretty different.
1
The U.S. Air Force looked into the possibilities of a nuclear-powered bomber. IIRC the weight of the shielding for the reactor was the biggest problem. And you have to deal with crashes; anything that could keep the fuel intact would probably be very heavy as well.
1
I know how to travel faster than light. Take a rocket slower than light far enough away and cosmological expansion will eventually having you moving FTL relative to where you left. It's true that you can't make round trips that way, but if you've just spent billions of years getting away from the earth, why go back?
1
Yes, immortality would be terrible if it would be available to people you don't like. The horror. The horror.
1
@WonkyWiIl Let's see... death vs. accepting that there are people you disagree with. Yeah, tough choice there.
1
This quantum sock behavior explains why I can never get two of the same pair back out of the dryer.
1
Hens, sorry, hence, currency.
1
I'd legalize it America because I think that would cut down on crime overall, and prohibition seems futile. I wouldn't use it myself. But I'd take the same approach to fentanyl, so I'm definitely an outlier.
1
Just use 37. It's a very common random number.
1
I would think that if a hypothesis of quantum gravity pointed toward a resolution of the paradox, it'd be a positive sign.
1
Those avoiding sugar for blood sugar level reasons might want to check for sugar alcohols and identify their own reaction to each individual kind.
1
I was dismissing this until now, but now this looks less like an outlier and more like evidence confirming a trend that wasn't fitting the standard model.
1
The only advantage I can think of for hydrogen is that refuelling is a lot faster than recharging.
1
My condolences.
1
I tried to pet a byte, and ended up with a nibble.
1
I figure it at least gives the clerk a better opportunity to retrieve his or her own gun and end the threat.
1
I'm guessing the power source probably won't be internal combustion?
1
Cool.
1
@hyperduality2838 So is that testable?
1
@hyperduality2838 Any way to obtain experimental proof?
1
@SabineHossenfelder If you wear a Star Trek uniform, DON'T wear a red shirt!
1
Can I get support for my hamsteronic fusion approach? It has no chance of working but it's much, much cheaper.
1
Now I think the last words heard on earth will be, "But it was just a prank, yo!"
1
This is the best evidence yet that the universe is a simulation, because it needs a software patch.
1
The Krasnikov tube variant of warp drive might allow that
1
I was way ahead of particle physicists in realizing those particles were not made of component particles. Nobody makes duct tape that small. The Nobel committee has continued to ignore my calls.
1
@simongross3122 As a child I was forced to eat them without my consent. But I took that trauma and forced myself to the peak of physical fitness, keeping a careful watch to ensure that brussel sprouts never conquer the earth.
1
Anti-monopoly and anti-collusion regulations. Because all those companies would have to agree to destroy good to keep its price high. If one producer sold food cheaper (equally good food), consumers would buy their food there, and that producer would get more profit.
1
Does Hawking radiation break baryon number conservation?
1
If wormholes can be made traversable by use of negative energy, and if negative energy exists, could a wormhole to a baby universe be kept open? What happens to the space the baby universe came from? Is it pinched off into the new cosmos? If I make enough baby universes between here and Alpha Centauri, could I get Alpha Centauri closer? Can I be the first to name a baby universe "Cosmo"? I think that name would be taken kind of quickly.
1
My cat does manage to get to higher places when not observed. Maybe she's Schrödinger's cat?
1
No more pacific ocean? Finally, something to lower real estate prices in California.
1
I can think of a few possibilities, none of which I'm an expert in. (1) men have more fast-twitch muscles, so might move the controller's buttons a little quicker. (2) in some cultures, men have better skill in spatial geometry and (3) men vary more widely in intelligence, so a group with very smart people will tend to have more men.
1
It's not like it'll necessarily build up year after year. If you can delay the energy imbalance until after hurricane season, the energy might redistribute itself through less destructive means.
1
Can I get out of a speeding ticket by pointing out that it didn't include the reference frame to measure from? Asking for a friend.
1
Has the EPA studied the impact of climate change on giant Martian wolfspiders? From looking at footage from our probes, they already seem to be an endangered species.
