I don't know who you were thinking of, but Sweden NEVER had F-16, only home grown fighters, SAAB Draken, Viggen and now JAS.

Well if they'd just send the stuff right now (Abrams, F-16, ATACMS etc., in bulk) I don't mind waiting a bit longer for the explanation. Rather than the other way round. Just saying.

Someone here had an absolutely brilliant idea (about A-10). Let the Ukrainians fly them REMOTE! If anyone can pull that off it'll be Ukraine! No pilots life is wasted. And think of all the old warplanes that can die an honourable death. In combat. And go to a hero's graveyard! And why not? Why don't we just ask the Ukrainians if they want to have a go at it? Their country. Their choice.

Then you'll be happy to know that the first Leopard 2 are now successfully active in the Southern front. So by all means let the F-16 be likewise, just as you predict. π©π°πΊπ¦ SLAVE UKRAINI πΊπ¦π©π° OR?

You might want to consider that 5 of the 6 billions that US wont sent right now (over the next 45 days) was picked up the very next day by the EU. So, US might not send the money right now...but Ukraine will get them anyway!

Another technical pearl from the pro who known what he is talking about. πΊπ¦π©π°. SLAVA UKRAINI πΊπ¦π©π°

Ground radar and even F-16 own radar can detect incoming missiles a very long distances. And it's anti-missile missiles are fast and long-range enough to take out the Russian missiles long time before they reach their target. It's all a question of having radars and missiles that are long-range enough and precise enough. And the F-16 has precisely that! So no problem once they are in Ukraine.

My very thoughts. You must obviously be highly intelligent, Sir.

If you are from one of these countries yourself I will not disagree with you. If your not, I will not piss off a potential ally. One of the Danes eagerly waiting to send a crate of Carlsberg to the Ukrainian pilots to make them feel welcome.

They could be! Int'l pilots volonteer. Could start next week! First batch of Ukrainian pilots flying ONLY (relatively safe) standoff missions as 'launch platform' from rear areas. Forcing the Russians back in their launch areas. This year sure. Then the jobs being tackled can be expanded as the Ukrainian pilots are capable of handling it. Make F-16!a 'defence force-multiplyer' first. Ground support MUCH later! Next year perhaps. Just repeating a smashing idea seen here in the comments: Ukrainians (or intl volonteers) fly A-10 remote! Drone war XL.

Well that very much depends on 'us' are, doesn't it?

βΒ @buddy1155Β So true, but that's only half the story of my life.

I've been reliably informed that such venues have already been attempted several times. 6 months ago a conscript mobik, near Bakhmut surrendered and handed over his brand new Pantsir S (net worth stated as $ 120 mill) ...for a meal of two MRE-packs!

brilliant idea. Let's hope so.

Another fabulous analysis seen nowhere else. Stellar job, Anders. I will be sad the day that you are being headhunted to a job in another nation. Surely the job offers must be rolling in, if foreign miritary analysts are half as smart as you are. π©π°πΊπ¦SLAVA UKRAINI π©π°πΊπ¦

I love that quote too. Do you know where it comes from originally?

But the Russians still only have ONE plane that can match them! So there.
