I am so glad you covered this, it is across the street from a family of You Tubers. Their land was under 6 feet of water during Hurricane Harvey. The developers did little to help with water run off. The immigrants don't seem to need driver's licenses or insurance. This is also where that couple that was shot in July.

I feel like we need a revolution to fix America. Neither party cares about the American people they just want more power. The middle class is getting taxed to death and is not represented in the government. Isn't that why we had the revolutionary war in the first place?

California is the land of haves and have not with a diminishing middle class between them. I was born in Long Beach in the 50's. My parents were middle class, we had a home, one car, and my mother stayed at home until I was in the 5th grade. Most of my family has moved out of state and I am here alone worried that I might become homeless. The cost of groceries, gas, and everything else has just skyrocketed these last 2 years.

As a retired teacher who taught in the hood the black families need to support education. As a frustrated teacher as I felt I was not reaching my kids. I talked with a black custodian who explained to me that the black students don't want to be like whitey so they don't care about their education.

I pray that all these countries take care of their citizens first.

I wonder if all these rich people are ever going to realize that they need us before it's too late.

Part of the problem was that people could not be evicted during the pandemic for not paying rent. Now they have been evicted and rents have gone sky high because the owners are trying to recoup some of their losses. As well as people not going back to work.

I own a condo, and I think I may to move. The state required us to put in this very expensive fire alarm system that goes into every bedroom. It wiped out our reserves, so we have no money to fix stuff. Now the state says we have to pay to have our walkways tested which is $6000, not covering any repairs. Our trash bill is going through the roof because they are adding a gas tax, we had to get new cans, so we got deliver fees plus gas tax. I got no help when my roommate stopped paying rent during covid, I am just now evicting him because I have to pay the legal fees, and I have money missing that I had hidden in my drawers. I worked my life and now I am retied on a fixed income, what am I supposed to do?

Kudos to those people living there.
13
I was a teacher for over 25 years and I never made that much money! I want to move out but it costs money to move too.
12
I don't understand why this is happening when no one I see or read wants this to happen.
12
I want out of here too.

What a great town.

I have visited Hawaii once back in the 70's. It is beautiful but I don't have a desire to go back or live there. I think we should help the true native Hawaiians afford to live there.

I just saw a documentary last night about the fires. Part of the reason it's dry there is all the resorts and golf courses take all the river water. That also allowed all the invasive plants to grow and then dry out which also gave fuel to the fire.

I did spend some time in New Orleans but we traveled to New Iberia because my husband and I loved James Lee Burke stories that are set there. We drove around some, and visited a walk through swamp.
8
I went there with my husband once. I am glad I saw it but I won't go back unless something drastically changes.

I had a student in 2016 that said he moved in with his father who lived in Pueblo a couple of years ago. He could not find one kid to hang out with that wasn't doing serious drugs to hang out with. He ended moving back in with his mother in California.

I went to New Orleans in 2018 during Easter vacation. It was still kind of a mess from Katrina. Some of the nicer places were only open for lunch as they did not have enough workers even back then.
7
I would love to move to Wyoming but I know I couldn't handle the winters at my age.

I taught at an inner-city middle school where there almost on white kids. I tried everything to get through to the black kids and had no luck. I asked one of our black custodians if she had an answer. She told me that the kides see getting an education as trying to be like whitey, I had no idea what to do.

I have family in Beavercreek, it is a very nice suburb of Dayton. I am also thinking of moving there now that I am retired. They have a lot of ex military there because of the Wirght-Pat base.
