I really like Cheyenne when my husband and I stopped there on a road trip. It was the summer and I am pretty sure I couldn't handle the winters there.
9
I am surprised that Florida was not #1.
9
I think this was a great idea for a video.
8
Thank you for the info, WV is one of the few states I can afford in retirement.
8
I agree
8
Did your consideration for Arizona consider the cost of electricty (AC costs) and/or water?
8
Gee Florida has sharks, gators, snakes, and lots of bugs oh my!
8
I would love to hear about a list of lake towns to retire to.
8
I really liked Prescott but it has gotten too expensive.
7
Wow I really appreciate the info Briggs, I want to move out of California, but it costs so much to move!
7
I am a little concerned about anything out west with the water problems but thanks for the video.
7
Thanks for the video, my husband was Mormon and we visited Utah often. He has died but I would not move there as I don't like the desert much either. The people were always nice to me and if I liked it I would move there.
7
I would LOVE to move to Carmel but who can afford it?
7
I live in Long Beach and was even born. It has some extremely wealthy areas, "normal areas", and really bad areas. I taught at a middle school in one of the really bad areas, it had the highest teen pregnancy rate in LA county. The local paper did a 3 part series on how bad it was there several years ago. I then transferred to one of the better middle school. I started teaching in Rialto CA and that was a nightmare. It was a brand new high school but it was a disaster. 3 different gangs claimed as theirs. The cops showed up almost everyday, one morning all the glass in the main doors was shot out, they had a full on race riot during lunch one day. It was like movie, helicopters, motorcycles, and police everywhere. However we were told that Fontana was way worse because they had all the same gangs we did but they also had the Arayan brotherhood and skinheads.
7
I loved Switzerland when I traveled to Europe.
7
Nothing really surprised me on the list but I wish you had included crime stats as well.
7
I took a trip to NO the Easter after hurricane Katrina. I am glad I went but I doubt I would go back, it is a beautiful city but sad at the same time.
7
I am too old to buy and build a home but thanks for the video.
7
I think a bid part of the problem with these places is the crowding.
6
Nevada is not my cup of tea.
6
I only know what I hear on the news and who can be sure of that info. There also countries that don't allow immigration so are they smart or racist?
6
Yep just visit
6
Well, where are the 10 states that are feeling less inflation?
6
Religion is just about making money. Believing in something greater than yourself does not a church or a religion.
6
I was born and raised here in So Cal and I would love to move out!
6
Bear spray too for the anti-gun people.
6
No, I would not live in a border city with all those drug cartels so close,
6
I want to move out of CA for those reasons.
5
Good info thanks for warning us.
5
I would love to live in Wyoming but I know I can't handle the winters.
5
I don't get how the southwest keeps growing when we don't have enough water.
5
White Sands makes you feel that you are on another planet.
5
The only state I might consider moving to is Washington.
5
I can't believe my nemesis Chicago didn't make the list!!
5
My problem with Texas is the new anti-abortion law. What is the point of "saving" unwanted fetuses so they can growup in poverty which can lead to a criminal life. All these anit-abortion people put your money and love on the table and raise these children if you are so bent on saving their fetuses.
5
Great description of the Madonna Inn. My husband left me peek in the men's restroom where they have a waterfall for the guys.
5
When I was a youth back almost in the dinosaurs' days I wanted to move to San Fransico .
5
My favorite Florida man story is the guy that tried to rob Wendy's at the drive through. When she wouldn't hand over the money he threw an alligator out of his car into the drive through window. Seriously how can that not make Florida #1?
5
So if you have to Alabama, move to Huntsville.
5
We drove through Jackson hole, my husband wouldn't stop as he said it was just a tourist trap.
5
I would like a large small town to retire to, in other words I need good medical care but also has a small town vibe to retire to.
5
I am so disappointed that Florida Man didn't even get a mention. I mean come on where else can you be where some robber is trying to get money from a Wendy's and when they won't fork over the money the guy threw a gator into the drive through window,
5
Is Florida the most dangerous state with all the bugs and creatures they have?
5
I know you didn't include Santa Monica CA but when I grew up there in the 60s it was middle class. It has gone to wealthy only now. The home I grew up in is valued for over a million. It was just a split level home, nothing fancy I drove by it 2 years ago and it looks exactly the same!

North Carolina and Tennesse are at the top of my list if I can figure out how to get out of California without going broke.
4
Tennessee is definitely one of my top picks. WV is also looking good.
4
How about countries that don't allow immigration period.
4
North Carolina sounds good to me.
4
My husband convinced me to move to Oregon after we retired. He died but will all the problems Oregon is facing I don't think I want to move there.
4
I wish I could move to Wyoming, but I don't think I could handle the winters. Like you I was born and raised in So Cal but now I am in my 60's.
