@IsaacKuo Oh I assumed it already had a camera the operator saw through. What MCLOS system you guys talking about? Blowpipe? Pretty sure there has been a few MCLOS systems over the past century. Yeah that is ridiculous trying to hit a god damn plane with controlling a missile with a third person perspective. Sims are aweeome. If I were command I'd have all plane/vehicle crews in em as much as possible in the most realistic sims I could buy. Sims, and realistic video games are amazing for training. Each day those crews who perform the best get 50$ Applebees gift cards. That will surely motivate the average American soldier. Anyway yeah I thought MCLOS was camera operated. This reminds me when I was like 11 in late 90s, maybe a bit older. I wanted an RC Helicopter. We go to this nice Hobby/Model/toy store where the owner asked my mom what we needed. We told him a helicopter. He asked my mom how much she made, which is odd. She was honest, and he basically told me not to get the 500$ helicopter, but 200$ plane since I would surely break the helicopter on the first day. (He said everyone does) Of course within 10 years toy helicopters were like 20$, and flew themselves. Anyway what a dumb idea. It is so hard to judge aircrafts movements in the sky sometimes, especially if there is nothing to help differentiate the distances or heading. My friend and I saw a UFO. If it didn't go from hovering in place for 5 minutes to taking off like a bullet with zero acceleration, and Gs no human piloted aircraft could survive. I would have guessed it being a helicopter. (Later found out by others we probably saw what is called the Tr3-B.)

Didn't they scratch that? Now working with the US to make nuclear subs? I'm two years from the future BTW. Weapon procurement has been insane these past years with tons of things changing daily by Western countries. Fuck Germany is a procurement hell hole. Something as simple as getting more ammo seems like a nightmare.

What about a round that is a bit longer as well? More powder for velocity/range or explosive.

Top 5 coolest looking vehicles period. Of any type of vehicle not just military. Just period.

@AdurianJ Yeah that 35mm AHEAD ammo looks amazing. I think they also have the tungsten pellets/shot have a pretty uniform pattern with the fuse. I do know the gun primes it as it is leaving the barrel. Seen a test of what I believe is the SkyNex system take out 8 drones in one small burst. Kind of overkill for them but effective. Why the hell the US doesn't use such ammo and systems for the CIWIS and Phalanx is beyond me. Sure its cool we can essentially shoot a bullet with a bullet mid air but feel like there is a larger room for error and requires longer bursts. Also the 20mm doesn't have enough range or power. I guess the new hypersonic weapons are armored? I call BS on that ‐ at the speeds those things are going any piece of tungsten should be sufficient enough to cause significant damage. Even if it only damages the flight surfaces the missile would tear itsself apart or definitely miss the target. The Italians 70mm Naval gun is getting upgraded to 200rpm. I guess it can shoot down basically anything that flies and surface ships. Maybe the US should buy that and upgrade it with AHEAD type ammo. The range and amount of tungsten thrown into the air with such a gun would make quick work of anything. Yet I am just a pleb. I don't know why we do things a certain way.

@AdurianJ Oh I wasn't talking about

@AdurianJ Well yeah I imagine better range as well. I am wondering what caliber most countries will settle on. First generation laser defense is coming online and looks promising. do know the AHEAD is an air defense system that works in tandem. Not really sure what Skynex is filling over Skyguard TBH. Not sure about the nuance or key differences. I just know it can be used against incoming air and ground targets. Definitely wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it. Not that there are many bullets in the world I want coming at me hehe.

I know it shouldn't be surprising because forest fires are natural and good for the health of the land, but I never thought about forest fires in Russia. Ya know with all the natural water and permafrost and sheer remoteness. I guess it can get dry even when surrounded by snow. Didn't really think they'd have massive fire fighting planes. Wonder what the biggest in the world is now. Imagine sitting there camping in the middle of Siberia with fire around you and this thing just dumps a load on ya.

I'd rather be dropped by a parachute in the midst of the enemy at night. Feel like there would be too much chaos to think even though I'd be a sitting duck midair.

Yup. I think the newer systems can be programmed to airbrush behind cover as well. If not they should.

America loves upgrades and module design. We are getting better at it. Sadly the Navy really struggled and wasted billions trying to do the same and doesn't seem quite there yet. Im from the future.. The F 35 has already has significant upgrades and receiving an other big one soon. Crazy. The B 21 supposedly should be similar. Now... Let us design a solid ground vehicle. Feel like my entire life we keep pumping money into failed programs.

@vincemicron Ha pretty much. At least the Stryker turned out okay. I am still not sure as everyone has their fucking opinion on it. I know the no longer 105mm is crap and that's it. Personally I don't understand IFVs that don't carry at least some soldiers but that's me. Just build a light tank at that point. I do like Russias idea of the Armarga of building a hull and automated turret with room to upgrade from the 125mm to 152mm in the far future. If they could actually build the damn thing that is. Think the Army should do that though. Find a hull and pump money into making a solid reliable hull with a good suspension armor/engine that and then work on the turret and weapon systems for said hull. We shall see with these new projects though.

Ah yes Russia. "West has 120mm. Make ours 122mm! West has 155mm? Oh make it a 152mm for small fry but also make 203mm!"

I'm waiting for a turbojet or turbofan so I can see a Sci-fi looking gunship mess up some fools. Tri and quads are cool too though. Also the Army picked the Valor and I think it was the right choice. Can't beat the speed and range of a tilt rotor and avionics are so good it literally can fly itsself.
