The biggest problem we're up against is that people in government, both federal and local have absolutely no real life experience of anything, let alone anything technical or practical. These are the very people who can't find employment in the real world. They're the ones making bad decisions everyone else ends up paying for

I like how they've gone from 'zero emissions' to 'zero tailpipe emissions'.

Germany is a country in terminal decline. Organisations are moving out to other countries whilst small businesses are going bankrupt in large numbers. It's a simple case of, if you need to manufacture things, you need energy.
192
Seriously, who buys these things? What possible use do they serve?
140
No one wants to buy a car that has a smaller fuel tank than when it was new despite weighing the same and taking up the same amount of space.
99
These kind of charging currents are nuts. The infrastructure was never built for it. Most incoming fuses here in the UK are 100 amp which is 24 kw. No one ever uses near that. Not even for just a few minutes. Imagine EVs at any more than say a 20 percent market share and the entire grid would collapse. How can you possibly transfer all the energy provided by oil down a wire because thats exactly what it is.
71
Im not sure how something like this can get past type approval. Its absolutely essential there are physical controls that very quickly become intuitive to the driver.
67
I'm still waiting for this battery 'breakthrough' to break through the walls of the labs and into the factories.
65
Maybe, just maybe that's the real agenda here
52
Ah, Norway. Always the first country to virtue signal their way into oblivion.
47
The only supercharger I'm interested in is the one under the bonnet.
41
Nice to see some honesty from someone with direct experience. Most evangelists aren't so humble.
38
Yep. We'll all be on the 10 year waiting list for trabants next
37
That would cause REAL global warming!
33
Rest assured, their intentions aren't good.
33
There wouldn't be a manufacturer who would make them if it wasn't for mandates. Just look at the financial state of some of them because of this but then I think it's deliberate.
31
They wouldn't exist if it wasn't for government mandates. I mean which company would go into the EV market in a truly free market economy?
31
@redemissarium 'gasoline car is freedom'. And therein lies the fundamental reason for banning them.
29
Never would I have ever imagined the order being belched out 'CHARGE' mean connecting a battery to a battery charger.
28
Absolutely. It was always the intention but only the last few years have they shown their true colours. These things always have to reach a point where it can no longer be hidden.
28
Nothing new there then.
28
@steve_is_my_name I take a break when I want to, not have to and yeh I do on occasions drive for 6 hours without or with a very short break. Thing is with a 100 litre tank I can fill up and drive on motorways and not have to buy their overpriced fuel.
26
Congrats on the 100k. Well deserved.
26
Strangely all planned and deliberate.
25
Its a battle between realism and ideology. Engineers live in the real world because thats where their solution lie. Unfortunately, the people who make the decisions like local authorities, are often in those jobs for ideological reasons. They have a kind of infantile way of seeing the world. To them, economics has no input as even if it means having to have permanent subsidies thats ok because it meets their ideological objectives.
25
Always the same people. Always people with a collectivist mentality.
25
@krakken- you actually believe that? You really think that you're getting 'free' electricity? You do realise that it takes 16 years to recover the energy required to build and install them? How do you think they make the steel and cement for the thousands of tons required for the bases? Then you have the constant maintenance these things require. I won't even go into solar which is a bigger nonsense.
23
Yes, I'm sticking to cars with an internal combustion engine, not an exterior one.
23
The agenda is to end private car ownership.
23
Imagine driving in Scotland in November with your heating turned off!
21
The UK buys the majority of its natural gas from Norway.
21
It's all about control. Creating scarcity to make it expensive and drive people into poverty. Same with food. All part of the great, you will own nothing, reset.
20
@krakken- you might understand when you're old enough to drive.
20
Very true. We're on the road to hell in every way.
20
@Audioremedy0785 but lack the thinking past the end of their nose to what the value of the car is when they trade it in. What's the use of saving money on fuel when the value is dropping like a stone?
20
My car costs 730 a year to tax. Well, it would if i paid it. Stop funding these people.
19
I've likened them to 3d and curved screen TVs.
19
Its barely started. Believe me, if these people get their way you won't be driving anywhere.
18
I'd never go back to a petrol. My 2010 3 litre merc M class suits my lifestyle perfectly.
18
The EPA have got previous form on things like this. In 2022 the supreme court ruled 6-3 against them when they tried to set limits on coal power plants. The court ruled that it doesn't have the authority to shift the nations energy away from coal to renewables.
17
It works the other way round also with people cooking in seed oils that were developed for machine lubricant, like canola oil.
16
@matton36 I think more people these days don't vote FOR a party but against it which has the same end result. People need to spoil their ballot as that gets counted unlike simply not voting. We have to stop giving these people a mandate to govern.
14
@steve_is_my_name it takes less than 5 minutes to fill up a car so the analogy is irrelevant.
12
Exactly what I was thinking. There's no way I'd accept that without a fight that I'd be likely to win.
12
That's the Idea. Along with net zero, it's all a plan for deindustrialisation.
12
@evfactsnotliesplease oh look who's here. What a surprise. You don't have an original thought of your own do you?
11
Haha brilliant. I do all of that.
11
@TroySavary 😂😂yes, it's 'just around the corner', only that corner never makes it into the real world. Get real.
11
Yeh that's exactly why I'm sticking to mine.
11
Unfortunately, the contents of my wallet seem to though. Not that it's any different with EVs. It hurts when you've got a 100 litre tank!
