  7. The problem with nuclear waste less of a technical issue and more social and political. Disposal could be made safe but nobody wants it anywhere near them.

  12. @JoJofghj  profits allow producers to invest in research and development and improve the efficiency of production. The free market allows people to make economic decisions for themselves. Planned economies in countries like Russia, China, North Korea, etc. are associated with planned behavior as well. The philosophical difference is about whether you believe individuals can be trusted to make good choices versus a centralized power that makes choices on behalf of the people because it has superior judgment.

  15. The problem of nuclear waste is probably the biggest road block. Nobody wants it buried anywhere near they live. If this problem can be resolved then I would be more inclined to support it. But I've seen no evidence of progress in dealing with the waste.

  16. NIMBY - not in my backyard. This the problem - nobody wants waste nearby no matter how safe they can make it.
