  1. I loved the car on my first glimpse. Then I saw the rear wheelarches. It's still a beautiful car, but those wheelarches are too wide for my liking. I hope the DB11 doesn't have those, but will look the same otherwise.

  10. Mentu Hotep Not really, I can see the good points of a Panamera. It's luxurious, well-made, incredibly fast and nice to drive. But pretty? Tasteful? Good value? Not really. I don't like it for the same reasons I don't like the Bentayaga in the video.

  11. Eugeneshighadventures Thing is, a sports saloon is a body style that can adapt to speed properly, thanks to its relatively low centre of gravity and overall sleek build. It has the utility of a regular car with the speed and excitement of a sports car. The same applies to fast estates. However, SUV's are too high up to handle properly. The amount of engineering magic required just to make it corner acceptably and make it able to handle 500+ bhp in the corners, is already astoundingly high. SUV's will never be properly fast, it's physically impossible. The Bentayga is stuck as a straight-line rocket/overpriced family car with too few seats. It can barely use the speed. This is also why early AMG's weren't very good.

  12. Eugeneshighadventures A BMW M3 actually qualifies as a proper sports car. So will the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. A sports saloon has appeal in that it's a sports car in disguise. Plus, you can handle it through corners nicely, even on the road. Fast SUV's, however, are merely a penis extension for footballers. A slow Bentayga is a bad idea too, but Rolls got it right when they made cars like the Phantom and Ghost 'sufficiently fast'. As fast as you'll ever need it to be, but not too fast to poorly synchronise with the stately, cathedral-like character of the rest of the car. Though I will admit that the engineers did a good job. Props to them, it's the fault of the designers and marketers.

  22. Jonathan Kumar I believe she mentioned the car's appearence when she said muscle car. Not the car itself. Well, those are quite important flaws. Tests like these shouldn't be done by her, given that she's not exactly the most talented driver in the world. But everything else can be easily done by her. I don't see why she'd be inferior to the others there, even without regarding the looks and stuff.

  25. Jonathan Kumar He's right, she's pretty. And how hard can it be to read things off an autocue or learn them off a piece of paper beforehand? She'd be good at testing Golfs and stuff, not being distracted by the car enthusiast that might lie in the other presenters.

  27. Jonathan Kumar To be honest, the comparison is quite off. Reviewing hot hatches is completely different from reviewing regular hatches. Although I'd have another (equally or more pretty) woman over this one most of the time, if she were a really good driver and more passionate, so she can review nice cars too. Then again, how often do you find one? Sadly, petrolhead girls are rare ;)

  35. Jeremy Clarkson once did a review of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. The first line was 'Well, what do you think it's like? Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful'. Seems a bit shallow and poorly argumentated, but the film is a bit different than usual.

  39. yomammaspoodle Well, you could use it as a measure of whether they've improved 'enough'. Granted, 'enough' is a disputable term here, with the aforementioned MX-5 being a great example, but it does add a bit of a nice twist. I like seeing the old ones win, it makes me feel good somehow.

  46. DPPremier Of course, I was joking. Though surprisingly, the MX-5 looks bigger than it actually is. It's not brash, or even agressive. It's assertive. However, the design is simple and elegant. I like it, even if the back end looks a tad to high and narrow for my liking.
