  32.  @sideshow4463  The side affects of those medications are known. People on them can adjust their diet so they don't get fat. I can't understand how a medication can make you 'fat'. You can prevent it, if you have the willpower to eat less.

  34. @Ichiban Hentai OtakuThankyou. My son has ulcerative colitis. He is only 18 and has nearly lost his bowel 3 times. It dictates his life. He was active and outgoing 2 years ago, even through the pandemic. He has to have iron infusions from blood loss. I totally overhauled my own diet/fitness to support him but he still eats junk. The disease makes him weak and he rarely exercises and had to give up his job. I feel like I nag him about his food choices but I can't help it, he needs to change his diet. I plead with him to just try, to see how makes him feel, to see if it makes him get better but it's like talking to a brick wall. He's only about 3 - 4 kg overweight but he hasn't developed his muscles in a way that he could have and has lost most of his natural athleticism.

  35. @Ichiban Hentai Otaku He has had infusions of Infliximab (the 1st one took 6 hours!) and iron (the last iron infusion left a 3 x 4 inch 'bruise' looking mark on his inner forearm, but that's the least of our worries) He takes Creon with food, Pentasa for his pancreas and Rinvoq (for the UC) My MiL says Crohns runs in her family and my own father once had a bout of colitis but he has eaten a healthy diet for decades now, and he's fine. In my mind, it's about diet. The often poor Western diet. That old saying 'you are what you eat' comes to mind. I blame myself. My young son is the 'baby' of the family and he was super fussy about food. I let him eat rubbish food as a child. I have quite bad stress about this and I developed a stomach ulcer.

  36.  @napoleonfeanor  He is on Rinvoq, Pentasa and Creon at the moment. He has taken Prednisolone before though. Nothing has worked 😕 He's been told that the Rinvoq is the last medication that can possibly help him. He is on different emena's too. He doesn't get bad enough pain to justify taking an opioid but if he did, I'd be right onto a good pain relief for him. Last time he had a colonostomy, the camera nearly tore his colon and they couldn't investigate very far. He's got it really bad and that is why I nag him everyday about trying a change of diet.. now that he's 18, the specialists don't want to hear from me, but him. I mean any problems like excessive bleeding, weakness or worse diarrhoea etc. I didn't suddenly stop being 'motherly' when he turned 18..We live 240kms from Perth and his hospital and he has been taken there in an ambulance, 3 times, in 2 years. 😥 Edit. I believe opiates would help with his toilet issues, I've heard it can make you a little constipated but they would never give him a pain killer for that. I never even thought about that before.. 🤔
